It is very easy to make appointment with Tom as he always returns calls. Every time, Tom showed up on time. After 5min you can tell Tom is very experienced and honest. Last time we called Tom, he showed up the next day, found out the problem and fixed it in 10min. He charged for nothing even though the trip itself probably takes him more than 30min. We will definitely use him again and recommend to anyone.

Thomas was a pleasure to deal with. Professional, efficient and thorough. Price was quite fair as well considering we special ordered both door and window style which was acceptable to us. He replaced entire door, rails, motor and pulley assy. Added a external keypad which he then programmed to my specs. Hauled away older debris and left garage environment in condition he found it in. After installation, which he completed by self (partner was ill but he still stuck w/ agreed finish date!!), he educated me on annual maintenance, user tips, and provided all warranty paperwork. If I owned a 2nd home he would be replacing the door in that one as well when the time came!! Its a pleasure to have a functional garage door that I don't have to blow out a "nut" to open and close.

When our garage door broke, I called Tom based on a recommendation from a neighbor who recently had him out to service her garage door. When I called, he answered and set up an appointment for the next day. (I didn't ask for a same day appointment). He arrived on time and immediately diagnosed the problem, told me what was necessary to fix it and told me the price before he started work. He replaced the one cable that was broken, the bracket to which it attached which was rusted and recommended that the same replacements be made on the other side of the door as they were severely rusted and were likely to break as well. It was apparent on my own visual inspection that this was the case and so I authorized the repair. It turns out that we had also damaged our motor trying to get the door up when it was broken and the motor would time out after the pulley had only moved a foot and would then reverse, making it impossible to get the garage door up or down. He first tried making adjustments to the motor to try to fix the problem and showed me how this was done, but that didn't work so he recommended replacing the motor. While I wasn't expecting this, I feel like we got a fair price on the motor because the same day I got an Angie's list promotional and quot;dealand quot; email about another garage door repair outfit offering the same lift model for $40 more. I should say that the motor had been showing signs of an electrical problem before the door broke so it didn't surprise me that our overstressing the motor during the breakdown could have exacerbated the preexisting issue, leading to the need for replacement. He also gave me advice on maintenance of the rollers and the cables and didn't try to sell me additional products or services even when I asked him his opinion about the condition of other features of the garage door and moving parts that I thought might require work. He also made sure I had the warranty information for the new motor before he left. Overall, I'm quite satisfied that he did a good job at a fair price.

We got prompt response to our emailed inquiry, fantastic accommodation to our schedules and a clean an courteous installation all at the promised great price. Unlike the other company we called who quoted a base price then just piled on the costs for items such as the exterior keypad and car remotes, Mr. Linnehan, provided exactly what we needed, made all the repairs promised and took away our old door opener.
It was a pleasure and we would recommend his service to anyone.

I called Tom, and he arranged to come as soon as possible. He was punctual, gave clear explanations of what was wrong, was not condescending and didn't assume I was stupid. His estimate of the costs and how long the work would take were accurate. His work was great, completed quickly. He took the time to explain what ongoing maintenance I could do myself. I was very pleased with his work and would happily recommend him to anyone wanting work done on garage doors.

MY EXPERIENCE WITH TOM/FIVE STAR WAS EXCELLENT. FIRST OF ALL, I FOUND THEM BY REQUESTING A QUOTE ON SERVICEMAGIC.COM. THEY RECOMMENDED TWO COMPANIES: FIVE STAR AND ANOTHER ONE. TOM, THE OWNER OF 5 STAR, CALLED WITHIN 5 MINUTES OF MY QUOTE REQUEST! THAT WAS BIG. HIS QUOTE WAS $375 INSTALLED FOR A NEW LIFTMASTER BELT DRIVE OPENER WITH TWO REMOTES, INCLUDING LIFETIME WARRANTY. THE PRICE WAS COMPETITIVE WITH SEARS, MAYBE A FEW DOLLARS MORE, BUT THE WARRANTY IS BETTER. MOREOVER, HE WAS ABLE TO DO THE INSTALLATION AND REPLACE MY BROKEN UNIT (INCLUDING TAKING IT AWAY) WITHIN 2 DAYS, WHEREAS SEARS, HOME DEPOT, AND OTHER ANGIE'S LIST PROVIDERS WERE 1-2+ WEEKS AWAY! HIS SERVICE AND THE OVERALL EXPERIENCE WAS EXCELLENT, AND I AM A VERY HAPPY CAMPER. I THINK HE IS A TWO MAN BUSINESS: TOM AND AN ASSISTANT.
