Architectural Service
Albright completed several sketches.  He neglected to go to conservation before he said he was ready to produce construction and bid documents, yet we were within a wetlands buffer zone.  There were several other important decisions to be made, but he was ready to go ahead.  For example, the dimensions of the addition were not yet finalized, and he was planning on a cathedral ceiling but that was not even discussed.  We stopped his work on May 1, 2012, and informed him on May 7 we had decided to obtain the services of an architect (he is not a licensed architect even though at the time his web site was John Albright Architecture).  On may 8 he sent us substantial additional work we had never seen and charged us an additional $856.  That work had three different measurements for the length of the addition from one page to the next although they were supposed to represent different views of the same structure.  His errors and ommissions caused us to lack confidence in his work.  Furthermore, his designs were of no use or value to us because they intruded into the wetlands buffer zone.  We have since used an architect who helped us get conservation approval of a design acceptable to conservation.
We refused to pay the additional $856 to Albright. He took us to Small Claims Court. The court found in our favor and we owed him nothing.
Our current architect, Pam Woodworth is excellent in every way and our addition is about half way completed.
