He took time to explain things to me but what I'm wondering iwhat kind of home inspector comes without tools to check things.  He said he couldn't check the heating system because it needed a special kind of screwdriver to open the panel enclosing it.  Seems to me that that's his job to have all kinds of tools in his car so he can do a thorough inspection.  Also, he said he didn't carry a tape measure because customers kept walking off with them.  How hard is it to ask someone to return the tape measure before you leave the house you're inspecting.

Chris was strongly recommended my agent. Although we know it is a conflict of interest, we still chose Chris. Not surprisingly, everything was great. Some minor issues were picked up. We moved in a month ago. Over the past months, I basically revealed new problems every single day, from water leak, electrical problem, AC not working, My neighbors were all curious why contractors trucks park on my driveway every day. I understand home inspector will not pick up every defects in the house, but clearly Chris missed several very obvious issues. In addition, Chris is not responsive. I did send him a few emails regarding the issues we found out. He only replied one after I called his office later. No response to my other inquiries. Later on, I just gave up and moved on.

We so wish we would select another independent inspector. So rule of thumb, never use the inspector recommended by your agent.

Greggarrived at the property before us on the day of the inspection and already proactively started to check the outside of the house and the property in general. He was very professional and he had to say a lot not only about potentially problematic aspects of the property but also on what and how we could improve upon if we decide to purchase it. After few days we received a detail inspection report via email which serves us as a guide even today. Overall we were very happy with the results of this inspection.

We found Chris Galeota to be not only incompetent but also unprofessional.
During inspection he tripped an outlet that controlled our refrigerator/freezer. He, along with both real estate agents, knew the outlet did not go back on and left our home anyway when we are out of town. No one thought to check if the fridge was connected to that outlet. Turns out it was and we lost the whole contents of it and come home to defrosted food all over our kitchen floor.
Even if it hadn't been it simply boggles the mind that an inspector could knowingly conduct an inspection leaving the home in worse condition than when it started. No mention of the non-working outlet was even mentioned.
The home has now closed and our own agent offered to compensate us, but this inspector refused to take any responsibility for leaving our home in worse condition than he found it.

Chris Galeota is very thorough and has the knowledge to carry a complete inspection through yet explain to a layman as he goes. He has a very easy demeanor so asking him questions is easy. His report is very comprehensive and allows one to create an action item list of things that need to be completed / checked / fixed.

We have used Galeota twice now, since we have had offers on three homes. The first home we used them for didn't work out but Chris was great and answered all of our questions, did a thorough job inspecting the outside, garage, basement, major appliances, electrical box, attic and inside. We unwisely chose another inspector for our second attempt at buying a home, which also fell through, and we were not satisfied at all and we paid $500 more for less work, we felt. 
The third time is hopefully the charm. Our inspection was done at 4 pm and we got the inspection report today around 9 am. I think they are fairly priced, he has been early both times we used the company, and he answered all questions and was not a jerk about it like other inspectors have been. 
Hopefully we won't need another home inspection for YEARS but if we do, we feel confident to use Galeota again.

On the surface, Galeota's inspection seemed thorough. After some time, however, it became clear that the inspector missed several key items that should have been quite evident. These included structural issues with the floor, a major rodent infestation and leaking pipes.
Galeota failed us and it has cost us tens of thousands of dollars.

Setting up the appointment was quick and painless and the office staff was friendly and professional.
On the day of inspection, Chris arrived early and already had taken many notes, etc.  When we arrived he walked us through every element he had already inspected.  He gave helpful tips regarding maintenance, etc and also explained how all of the systems in the home worked, steps to take if there is a problem, etc. -- all things that could help us be more self-sufficient home owners (instead of just calling the plumber as we usually do :).  We definitely learned a lot and Chris was very pleasant to work with (which is important given the amount of time you spend with the inspector).
He spent about 3 hours at the home with us and gave us good guidelines for what should be fixed immediately and what we may want to do over time along with indications regarding what was a safety issue vs. cosmetic or inconvenience.  The emailed report was very thorough and it arrived fast.
Would definitely use Chris Galeota again - he definitely made the inspection process stress-free.

Chris came early and took care of outside inspection to beat anticipated poor weather conditions. From the moment of introduction, he was very professional and focused on the task at hand. As we walked through the property, he clearly explained what he was looking at and problems he was looking for. He highlighted both positives and negatives and gave helpful suggestions for any follow up actions. He was very practical and realistic in his assessments and his knowledge of the trade came through clearly. The inspection took over 2 hours as we covered the entire house. We wrapped up with a verbal review of any major observations. A full, written report was emailed within 2 days, as promised.

Greg arrived early and did all the outside inspection before we got there. When we arrived, he was friendly, professional, and didn't waste any time. He started with the driveway, deck, siding, gutters, roof, etc., explaining what he saw and what that meant, how to fix it, how to maintain it, and when necessary, how things work (which I really appreciated). He continued throughout the house, doing the same in the basement, living space and attic. It was like taking notes for home owning 101, and I loved it. I had gotten his name through Angie's List, seen the rave reviews and found the experience as described. His report was prompt and thorough. It was an awesome experience!!

Mr. Galeota is an excellent home building inspector. He was very thorough and candid and professional. Additionally, he gave us a lot of good advice regarding what to change regarding certain updates we wanted to do to the house, and other advice that has proved invaluable to us in buying the house. We hired him twice, and the first inspection was excellent as well, though we did not buy that particular house. Mr. Galeota went out of his way to be thorough and honest. Mr. Galeota's brother even came to look at possible lead paint issues, and he was very knowledgeable and professional as well.

He was really great in explaining, what he was doing and what to worry about and watch out for. He also couldn't be nicer or more professional. I would absolutely hire him again, for an inspection.

As someone who has never owned a house before, this was my first experience with home inspection. It did meet my expectations & was worthwhile.

Greg Galeota was very thorough in the inspection of the home. He arrived early to do a preliminary walk through, and then explained his process and findings along the way. The total living space was only about 1100 square feet, but he spent about 2.5 hours going through it. He also emailed a very comprehensive report to me the following day. Excellent work all around! I will use them again in the future.

Greg Galeota did a VERY thorough inspection of a house we are planning to buy. His inspection was far superior to any home inspection we have had done on previous house purchases (by other companies). We received his report very quickly (via email) and it was very clear, well organized and complete.

WE HAVE HAD SEVERAL HOME INSPECTIONS DONE WITH OUR FREQUENT MOVES, AND MR GALEOTA PROVIDED THE MOST THOROUGH AND WAS THE MOST KNOWLEDGEABLE INSPECTOR WE HAVE EVER DEALT WITH. HE EXPLAINED IN DETAIL THE STRUCTURAL COMPONENTS OF THE HOME AND HOW EACH SYSTEM WORKS PROVIDING US WITH HIS OBSERVATIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS TO EITHER REPAIR, IMPROVE OR MAINTAIN THE CONDITION. IN ADDITION, WE RECEIVED A VERY DETAILED INSPECTION REPORT THAT WAS EASY TO READ AND UNDERSTAND. IF WE DID HAVE ANY FURTHER QUESTIONS, MR. GALEOTA STATED THAT WE COULD CALL HIM. BECAUSE OF MR. GALEOTA'S INSPECTION, WE FEEL WE HAVE A BETTER UNDERSTANDING OF THIS HOME THAN ANY HOME WE HAVE PREVIOUSLY PURCHASED. WE GIVE HIM AN A+.
