Septic Tank Service
We got Raggs to come out and pump out the septic system after a few rounds of emails/calls. But the cap replacement was never done. We had several promises to come out and finish it but they never showed. I eventually had to cancel and go with another company because I couldn't leave the tank cover dug up indefinitely. I won't be coming back to Raggs for pump out in the future, they are just too hard to schedule with and are not very responsive.

Inspector arrived as promised at scheduled time. I had "as-built" septic drawings available for the inspector to locate systems along with the design drawings submitted to the town for construction in 2001. System checked out, replaced D-Box cover as old one was cracked. The fixed price quickly escalated $500 for additional time to locate fixtures and $250 for 12"x12" concrete cover. Ouch!  After several calls to the office, I finally received the Title V report 8 weeks later.  The on-site mechanic was bright and hard working - the office was slow to respond with my report. I would use again but make sure you leave plenty of time to get the report in hand or make your deadline a contract stipulation.

Septic Tank Service
On a routine septic pumping, Ragg informed us that we needed a new septic tank at a cost of up to $7000. I left 3 messages for them asking for a return call for more information. After no success with the first round of phone calls, I spoke with the office manager Stacey who said that the messages were going to the president of the company. I asked her to relay the message that after 15 years of being their customer, I couldn't understand why they wouldn't return my call. The next day, a Saturday, their engineer Fred Fish came out to look at our septic who said he'd get back to us with a written estimate. We never heard from him again despite leaving multiple phone messages for him. We finally had a family friend in the business look at it who said we only needed a septic tank cover since ours was cracked. We spent less than $500 to fix the problem. At the end of all this, I counted 8 unanswered messages that I left for Ragg asking for a return call.

Asked to come out because our pump alarm went off. Did not diagnose the problem but just pumped out the tank and sent us a bill for $450. The alarm went off a few days later. We were due to go to Florida, so we left it and I called in the spring. The holes to the openings remained open all winter on our front lawn. They came out to look and called back several days later to tell us that our pump had burned out and that they or any other septic vendor could fix it. I called back to set up an appointment to fix it and did not get a response. I called Fred Fish multiple times directly as well as the office (and the woman there was no help in reaching Fred). Unfortunately, we were due to come home to MA and we needed to get the septic fixed. After another attempt to reach Ragg's with no success, we called Able Septic to come out and Rick was great. He came out that day and then referred us to a vendor that could fix pumps. I found out out from Ed at O'Neill's (who also came out that same day) that there are only about 4 vendors in MA that could replace pumps. Even better, I found out that Ragg's had Ed out to our house and he had been the one to diagnose that the pump was burned out. Pumps are supposed to last 7+ years. We've lived in our house for just 6 and are not home much (my husband and I travel a lot). $1600 later, our pump is fixed, but it gets even better. Ed from O'Neill's came out on a Friday and on the next Monday we got another bill from Ragg's for pumping out our tank a second time when they had been asked to come to diagnose the problem as to why our pump alarm was on. We did not authorize a second pumping. Here is the math: tanks were pumped on October 30, 2007 ($450 bill included 2500 gallons removed and $90 fee to dig 3 holes (we dug 2 they dug 1)) The holes were left open. The alarm came back on in 3 to 4 days; we left for Florida a few days after that. We were gone until May 5 (I was back for just 1 day). Ragg's came to diagnose the alarm problem and sent us a bill which arrived June 23, 2008 for a second pumping on May 5 ($508 bill included 2500 gallons removed plus $90 to dig 3' of holes (which were already open)). We called to follow up on this and have received no call back. Please benefit from our experience - don't use Ragg's.
