Tewksbury Windows & Door

Son showed up to give an estimate. However he did not explain that the previous window frame would still be exposed on the exterior of our home and that they would not trim it outside to give the window a finished look. The next day we received call from son saying the price quoted was wrong and he corrected the price upward to 75.00 more than the quoted price, which we readily agreed to. Installer was inexperienced, tools kept dropping on tile floor and no cover put on granite counter tops under the tools for protection. We were not satisfied with the finished results esp on the exterior. We called repeatedly and when someone finally answered they said they'd come out, take a look and make it right. After us calling them repeatedly we've never heard from them again and have given up. Now our choices are to call someone and pay more to finished the outside or to replace a brand new 3 week old window with something to our satisfaction. Show below are pictures of the outside of the window, please focus on the frame around the window. It was a patchwork of caulking and a complete unfinished look.

The installation went well. The trim wasn't mitered properly inside and the nail holes around the frame of the glass sidelights
was very sloppy. The pediment and the area behind the pediment was not primed and the mounting area was not
symmetrical. The house painter fixed what he could outside and we did the inside work.

Bill and his son showed up on time and spent the day revmoving the old jalousie widows and the rotted sill. They cut the corner post off at the middle. When I questioned them on why they weren't replacing the entire post they assured me that the rot did not continue down any further and it wasn't necessary. Against my better judgement I took them at their word. They finished the install of the windows and came back to trim them out the next day.
Windows are nice and made a huge improvement, trim work certainly isn't exactly finish quality but it's OK.
The problem came when about a week later I could still smell damp,rotting wood on the porch. I removed some of the shingles from the outside of the post to find that the bottom half they had not replaced was not only soaking wet but quite rotted as well. So now the chase was on. I called that afternoon to tell Bill what I had found and asked him to come and take a look. He said he would be out the next day. I waited all day and he called about 4 o'clock to say he couldn't make it and would be out the next day around noon. He never showed or called. We called them several times over the next few weeks and got no response. Finally after my last call I got a phone message saying he had been out to look at it (when we weren't home of course) and determined that the rot was cosmetic and it wasn't necessary to replace it. If wanted it done I would have to pay extra.
After several phone calls they are again not returning my messages. I seriously doubt they ever came back to look at the damage, no one could possibly call that and quot;cosmeticand quot;. If they had bothered to open up the outside of the porch in the beginning, they would have seen the damage then. Now they don't want to be bothered coming back.
The only reason I'm not giving this a total and quot;Fand quot; is because I like the windows.

I had priced several people and he was reasonable, and he did a wonderful job.

Overall, it was a great experience. I had heard horror stories from other people who had work done and used a big chain type of store and I did not want the hassle. I called Tewksbury Window and Door and left a message. Bill, the owner, called me back that same day. I told him what I was looking for (my first call was for a door) and he scheduled a time that worked around my schedule and showed up right when he said he would. He measured my door, I explained what I didn't like about my door, what I was looking for, and what I wasn't sure about. He listened and showed me many different styles and let me choose what was best for me. The price was fantastic (I think I paid around $900 for my door, installed). It is a beautiful door with a glass oval cut out in the center and brushed nickel handle. I love it. When I needed a new picture window for my living room, I called Tewksbury Window and Door again. It went as smooth this time as it did the first. I ended up choosing a Bay window with grids. I love it because it tilts in and is so easy to clean. Plus, my old window only opened on the sides but with this window all 3 sections open wide (the 2 sides and the big middle part). It looks so nice, there is no longer any drafts and it is so easy to care for. When the employees from Bill's company came out to install the window (and the door) I was immediately impressed with their overall appearance. They were neat and professional looking and they took their work seriously. When they were done they cleaned everything up and even vacuumed the rug under the window. They were friendly and courteous. I have recommended them to other friends and family and they have had the same experience that I had. They were wonderful to work with and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.
