Work started in January, and was complete in May. Colston worked alongside his crew during the demolotion, framing and construction. His presence ensured that the work was done properly and corresponded to the plans. During the execution of the work, Colston and his crew were very conscientious, regarding protection of the rest of my unit from construction dust and minimization of disruption. The work proceeded quickly and efficiently, and the project was essentially complete, except punch list items. The design of the kitchen and office was executed pretty much as planned, and the functionality of these spaces is optimal and very aesthetically pleasing. And the process was very cordial and collaborative. Colston takes immense pride in his work, and he really cares and attends to the needs of his customers. This distinguishes him from most, if not all of his competition.
I recommend Rizon Design and Build without reservation, for design, renovation and new construction for private residences.
but I am willing to give out my number if anyone wants more he info/. The number is

Coleston presented us with multiple options on how we could go about designing the deck. Once we agreed on one, he took care of the rest, from structural engineer, to permits, to electrician, to building crew, to painting, to clean-up. The work was done very professionally and he would immediately address any concerns or suggestions that we had. All of his subcontractors were easy-going, professional, polite, and hard-working. Cole is always receptive to feedback and it is clear that a satisfied customer is his top priority. In the end, he built a beautiful rooftop deck which we cannot wait to use. Really stunning. Coleston has a great eye for design and structure and included a lot of gorgeous finishing details, using a nice combination of colors and materials. We allowed him a fair amount of independence and he did not disappoint. He is a carpenter/woodworker by trade and added in a bunch of features (i.e. built-in shelving behind the door, lighting, two steps for a multi-level effect) which all turned out great.
The cost of the work was more than we had expected. He had initially estimated about $20K, and the final price was about $29K. Cole stayed true to the original estimate for his part of the job. It was more than other estimates we had seen but he seemed worth the added difference. The added price was for 1) upgrade on decking from pressure-treated to mahogany (our decision), 2) increased time obtaining permits (apparently our town permit office is especially difficult, but we did expect that all of the permit costs were included), 3) higher costs from the electrician (unforeseen requirement from the town that we install a smoke detector in the stairwell), and 4) painting of the balusters and handrails (which we did not realize was not included). The only other thing I wish went slightly differently was our communication. There were a few things besides price that caught us by surprise. For example, we agreed to pay extra for a mahogany upgrade but did not realize it was only for the decking (floor only) and that the posts and balusters woud still be constructed of pressure-treated wood. Also, we assumed that the painting was included, unaware that this was not typically part of an estimate.
Overall our experience was fantastic with him and we would definitely recommend Coleston and Rizon again. In fact we may have them build an addition to the deck later this year. If you are looking for beautiful worksmanship and an honest and hard-working contractor, you will not be disappointed with Rizon.
The design aspect was impressive. He designed a custom copper island hood that matched the dimensions and scale of the room. I scratched my head for a bit then fell in love with it.
Coleston was respectful of the rest of our house and did his best to contain construction dust to the kitchen area. Other than a slight delay due to the appliance supplier, the job came in on schedule.
Another aspect is after-job service. A few questions came up about the appliances and the granite. He was there quickly and offered solutions and corrections even in one case when it really was due to our own actions and not his.
This guy is the best.
We love our new kitchen. This company's 20 years of experience really shows. The owner is a great manager. He worked with his crew, as well as with the electricians, plumbers, and painters, etc., everyday of the the project. They are also custom woodworkers and the cabinetry and built-ins they created and installed were way beyond our expectations. At night, the lighting they installed on dimmer switches makes our 21st century kitchen look like it is sitting under a starry sky. We would never use any other contractor. Our kitchen looks like it cost twice as much as it did. They can design, build, and repair anything throughout your home.
"I was hired by this condominium association to build a deck. The two people at the condo who were in charge disagreed on the design. I tried my best to please both, but they could not come to any type of compromise. This man ended up blaming me because he could not come to a resolution with the other condo member. This condo has called me recently to do more work for them following this incident. To criticize me is completely unjust."
