First, Showcase Antiques Center suggests prices for your items, but they have the right to buy whatever they want from you and resell it at a higher price, so they have an incentive to under-price your items. Second, they never paid me on time. Never. In fact, I had to chase them every month for payments and they always had a different excuse. One time they told me they?d probably sent the payment to the wrong address and it would take at least a week to stop payment on the check and issue me a new one. One time their computer was down. Once the owner stated she?d been very sick and that is what delayed payment. Another time, they said they?d been without power for days. One time they said they?d send me check, but they never did, and it was a full month before they finally sent me that payment. Their contract states they issue checks on the 25th of the month following the sale of an item. For instance, anything sold in April would be paid on the 25th of May. The checks sent to me were up to 3 weeks late, and that was with me calling them to find out what had happened. God help the consigner who doesn?t want to chase them for their money. Know that the contract you sign with Showcase Antiques Center states that they are responsible for nothing. If an item is broken, stolen, or damaged, they are not responsible. If an item is sold and the buyer passes a bad check, they are not responsible. The consigner is responsible for all losses. If a consigner did decide to pursue legal action again Showcase Antiques Center, the consigner would be responsible for paying Showcase Antiques Center?s legal fees. Finally, when I made the (long-overdue) decision to take my remaining items out of Showcase Antiques Center, I was told the one-week notice I had given them was not enough time for them to gather my things, so I had to wait almost 2 weeks to get my items. The day before I was to go and pick up my items I received a phone call saying that I owed them $150 for an item that had been sold and returned to them 5 months before, and that I would have to pay them this money before removing my items. All-in-all I had a miserable experience with Showcase Antiques Center and I do not recommend that anyone consign with them.
Description of Work: Seller Beware! I consigned many items to the Showcase Antiques Center in March of 2011, and I had a very poor experience. I strongly recommend that you do not consign items with Showcase.
