"Thanks Member! We enjoyed working with you for the day !"
"Thanks Member! We were definitely busy when we were doing our scheduling with you. We appreciate your patience and your communication with us was great! Thanks again!"
"Thanks! Please feel free to contact us if you need anything in the future!!"
Rick is also attentive to cleaning up after he finishes a job. During a recent job of refinishing a built-in hutch that took several days, he was very careful about cleaning up each day after he left so that I didn't have to walk around dust, tools, etc. while the job was in process.
I own a two-family and and have to make sure my tenants' apartment is kept in good repair as well as my own. I've dealt with a lot of handymen in my years of being a landlord. Rick has become my "go-to" guy for anything that needs done on the house. I've found him easy and a pleasure to work with, and I'm very satisfied with his work.
"Thank you Customer!! We always enjoy working with you!"
Came by one day to work- and had decided the weather wasn't to his liking and wanted to take care of a smaller job in the garage- putting up two raw shelves.
When I questioned why the bulk head wasn't on his schedule, He told me "looks like rain". I offered him the garage and or the basement to work from- he started to fight with me and exchange nasty insights into what he thought was really going on. It was a frightening and an awful experience. I fired him on the spot, which he also had difficulty with.
He was paid additional money for his time above and beyond his "deal price". He's no deal. I went on to hire a wonderful team of A list handymen off Angies List who had me buy more lumber and return 90% of the other materials Mr. Kline purchased as they were unnecessary.
I am sure Mr. Kline will have something interesting to post about this review- he seems, to always need the last word, even when he's dead wrong. For the record there was no rain that day or in the week that followed.
"I would NEVER NEVER ask for someone's credit card!! I advise my clients that the pro desk from Home Depot would call her for her card number. I also do not work with my tools out in the rain, if they get rained on they're ruined, so yes I would do a job indoors instead. The customer was very difficult to deal with and I gladly decided not to work with her."
"We did as much of the member's punch list as week could in the two hour span she wanted. When the time was up she was upset that a shelf was not finished. I explained to her that normally I would still charge to put it up but would go ahead and get it done for her. At first she agreed and then became rather rude and disagreeable. If I offer to do work for you for free to make you happy I'd rather not be degraded while doing it....call me crazy...I wish we got to grade clients....Responsiveness - A, Rudeness - A, Value for my time - F !"
Rick and one of his workers moved through the tasks quickly. The door, which I had misdiagnosed as needing some planing on the bottom (or sanding of the threshold) actually needed its upper hinge screws changed to larger ones to hold the hinge firmly in place.
The new window closure hardware was placed well and works just fine.
The grouting of the marble steps took much longer than I had anticipated, given that workmen did it in about 3 hours about 7 years ago (just filled the side spaces, not tread/riser junction, etc.). The grout had begun to come out in many places, though, which is why we asked Rick to repair/redo it.
Rick spent most of his 2 hours on the Angie's Big deal working on the grouting, but was able only to "dig out" the bad spots and identify those needing less repair, and then actually grouted only the first 3 steps (they had very wide spaces to fill). He first mixed up the grout I had purchased, but realized as he started that I'd gotten the wrong color of white that would be the best match for our steps. He had some of the right color in his truck, so used that to do the first few steps on the Th they were first here. Rick assigned his assistant to come back on Saturday to finish the job, and he picked up more of the right color of grout on his way here. It took him about 6 hours to finish up.
Doing this job right (filling the spaces between tread and riser, not just on each side, etc.), with the right material (this grout seems much better quality than what was used the last time), and cleaning up carefully, as you go, is time-consuming. The steps look absolutely TERRIFIC, and I think they will last for many years, given that the correct grout was used this time, and the grouting was done so carefully and expertly. It was well worth the $270 charge beyond use of some of the Angie's coupon time applied to it.
If you want things done well, Rick is your guy!
Both he and his assistant, Andrew, were very pleasant and professional, as well.
"Thank you Member!! It was great working with you as well and we look forward to working on future projects. Member is a very intelligent woman and was easy and pleasant to do work for. We give you an A! We appreciate you taking the time to write us a review."
"Thank you. We strive to be very honest and do our best to be responsive and it is really nice to have that noticed."
"I recommended the member take care of the "gunky" pipe because it was a huge health hazard. It was an absolute mess and when my assistant and I looked at it we were combated with a huge cloud of flies. We had no desire to spend our day cleaning this out for the member but I found it to be a serious problem that could affect her family and her tenants. I am quite glad that her plumber who did not even look at the situation came up with such a grand solution and was able to save her so much money. I take my job very seriously and I find it incredibly important to address issues that could cause health problems or threaten someones safety. It is absolutely insulting and appalling to be accused of trying to "up sell" someone when your only concern is for the welfare of their family and tenants. I do not force anyone to take my advice or force them to use my services. I only do the best that I can do to offer them my experienced advice. Many of my clients reviews will testify to the fact that I have been nothing but honest with them and have either saved them money, or given them more than what they expected for their money. I give this client an F"
