Bottom line is if you need a new bulkhead door don't mess around, call these people at New England Bulkhead right away.
The quote process was easy and punctual. The scheduling of the job was fast. My father watched them as they worked because he was so impressed with them. They worked great as a team, efficient, quality, professional. It has rained and snowed since installation and its tight and dry.
It went fine. Only took around 3 hours. Some of the work was previously done by my son-in-law because my bulkhead butts my small back porch and they do not repair porches. Removed all the debris and it gave me a 5 year warranty. Since the bulkhead was installed it has rained quite heavy and it has not leaked at all.
I called New England Bulkhead to install a new bulkhead on a concrete footing that was above ground level to eliminate the trough. Henry came out promptly to estimate. We scheduled and rescheduled (due to rainy weather) and Henry accomodated each change. He said it would take parts of two days: first to pour footing, second to install bulkhead. He and Lonnie were right on time both days. Work very professional. Cleanup complete. A piston hinge on the bulkhead door was faulty and needed to be replaced....Henry back in two days with replacement part. Bulkhead works fine. I would use them again and recommend to anyone.
"Good morning [Member's name removed] I am troubled that you feel that we would ever intentionally run over you hostas plants. We do our absolute best to make sure our customers are satisfied always. As for the late response to get out and fix the issues you had with the bulkhead steps I apologize aswell. We are a small and very busy company, after that long brutl winter we were back up with insurance claims from ice damn damage. Hope the bulkhead and new stairs continue to work perfectly for you and if there is ever an issue please call me at 781-801-8188 thanks, Henry Krueger Jr New England Bulkhead"
I received an estimate for the work within days of my request. Because of business heating up after a long, destructive winter, there was about a week 's delay between my agreeing to the estimate and a call from me to inquire as to a possible scheduling for the work. Once an appointment was set up, Henry and his assistant arrived on time, removed the old bulkhead but realized they had the wrong replacement. After covering the area, they had to return to their workplace but were back very quickly and the new bulkhead was installed, all was cleaned up, (offer a trash bag for the various bits) and the bill was paid. All was very professional.
Later, I was in the cellar and noticed some gaps that were a concern as I had not seen gaps in the original cover. I left a voice mail regarding my concerns but did not receive a response until I called again the next day with an overly insistent message. Later, when my call was returned, I apologized profusely. Again, the representative couldn't have been more professional. She relayed my concerns to Henry, who later set up a day and time to come back to inspect the bulkhead.
He arrived on time and checked the gaps. He did make an attempt to correct the problem and it was resolved as well as could be expected. Again, he was very professional.
All in all, I'm very satisfied with the company's work and professionalism.
On 11/5/14, provider came by to give us a quote to replace our old bulkhead. Sweden, sales lady (the owner's daughter) reviewed the area and came back to me with an honest assessment of what TRULY needed to be done. No upselling, etc. She provided me with two scenarios with pricing. One was to dig out the existing area or the other was to just replace the existing bulkhead. Based on what she saw, the conditions of the metal stairs, etc , I would be ok in just replacing the actual bulkhead. In addition, in the quotes presented, I was provided with a 10% senior discount off the price.
The next morning I called to tell them that I wanted to have the work performed (replacing the bulkhead only., I was told that it would be about 10 days to 2 weeks for install. That was fine with me as that was explained to me when I got the quote.
That evening I received a call from NE Bulkhead offering me to have the installation done the next day, due to a cancellation. I said yes.
The team that came could not have been more professional and worked straight through to get the job done. They both worked hand in hand with a system that told me that they have been doing this for a long time.
After the install, they cleaned up after themselves and, other than the fact that you now see a new bulkhead, you would never know that anyone was there. That's how much care they took in cleaning up after themselves.
Very happy with the results.
