Sygma Stone

Sygma was recommended by our contractor, and it was our first experience dealing with a stone yard so I don't have any other experience to compare it to. My bathroom looks gorgeous and the work that Sygma completed is excellent.  We were not home during the measurement or installation so I can't speak to that part of the process except to say that the outcome is what we wanted and therefore it all appears to have been done accurately.
When we visited Sygma stone on a Saturday morning, I had expected more of a "showroom" and some guidance choosing materials. We were the only people there and had to yell "Hello!" loudly until the only gentleman who seemed to be working appeared. We initially asked to see remnants (there were several out back) and ended up choosing our stone from that selection. There seemed to be a large selection inside, but we didn't look there. The gentleman was able to answer some of our questions about that particular stone but I'm glad that I'm pretty design savvy and already had a good sense of what I wanted - otherwise I'm not sure that he would have been terribly helpful. 
As for price: I have nothing to compare it too, hence giving it a "C" for fair. However, we never received a formal estimate from Sygma. I initially asked the gentleman we met with how much it would be for a 60" single sink countertop, and he said "around $1000." I wish he'd also added "and if you want a backsplash, and bench, and trim around your walk-in shower, then expect $XXXX" because when I got the final bill I was quite surprised. I received formal estimates from all other vendors/sub-contractors except this one, so while the price may certainly be fair or even good, it would have been nice to get a more accurate estimate in advance. 
At the end of the day, the quality of the work was excellent and for that reason I would purchase again from them, but if you are unsure what you want and want to see a showroom or spend time talking with staff about your design wishes and needs, Sygma may not be the right fit for you.

We liked the fact that Sygma had many different styles of marble and granite immediately available at their Stoneham location. Steve's work in measuring the countertop area and then cutting the marble top to our specifications was done meticulously and professionally, we were very, very pleased with his work.

We picked up Sygma upon our contractor's recommendation. We did compare Sygma to other similar stone providers in the area and they came up way on top due to their significantly lower prices and descent selection. Their work was managed by our contractor but did not impede his progress. The only drawback was that one of the countertops had not been measured properly (missing one inch at one end) and as a result was not symmetrical with respect to the vanity. SInce apparently they did not realize the mistake upon installation, they had to come back to redo the work, which they did at no charge. In the end the work was superb and we are getting many compliments on our bathrooms.
