Everything went well despite my home's many quirks. They worked hard to get the job done as quickly as possible, were respectful of my schedule, and were able to work around the unexpected problems that arose due to my home's age. I would definitely highly recommend them.

Geferson and team did a fantastic job converting our small coat closet into a small bathroom. We are so happy with the way it turned out. He was flexible with schedule conflicts and with changes in the plan/design, and his choice of subcontractors for plumbing and electrical were great as well. We would absolutely hire again.

This was our 3rd sizable project with Geferson and as with each previous experience the work was done to an extremely high standard. This project was entirely exterior but when he has done work in our home (including a total overhaul of our master bath) Geferson is always respectful of the space which often includes kids and a dog, and the cleanliness and attention to detail of G and his crew are top notch. Have recommended him to several friends.

Geferson is a great contractor, he listens, understands and asks questions. He adapts to changes without complaint and has a great attitude. He did a custom built walk in-shower, and new tile floor (shower and bathroom) for our bathroom renovation. He also did some handyman work for us. Overall, I would highly recommend!

Geferson did an excellent job installing the new flooring. He also did interior painting throughout my first floor and made storeage in my mud room. His work is excellent. It is not rushed and done right. Geferson has many good suggestions. He is very fussy with all his work. He can do almost any thing.

Step by Step home improvement Corp has Abandoned a job which has resulted in 2 (two) judgements against him. One by Somerville District Court resulting in a judgement of $22,454.70 which is currently outstanding and one by the Mass Office of consumer affairs which has resulted in a fine of $1,500, further information is as follows and can be found by looking up the contractor licence. The contractor simply walked off a job he was paid for which was far from completed. No reasonable explanation was given. Somerville District Court language in part is as follows: TO THE SHERIFFS OF THE SEVERAL COUNTIES OR THEIR DEPUTIES, OR (SUBJECT TO THE LIMITATIONS OF G.L C. 41 § 92) ANY CONSTABLEOE ANY CITY OR TOWN WITHIN THE COMMONWEALTH: The judgment creditors) has recovered judgment against the judgment debtor named above in the amount shown below: WE COMMAND YOU, therefore, from out of the value of any real or personal property of such judgment debtor found within your territorial jurisdiction, to cause payment to be made to the judgment creditor(s) in the amount of the "Execution Total" shown below, plus additional postjudgment interest as provided by G.L. c. 235 § 8 on the "Judgment Total" shown below $22,454.70 Additional interest is accruing! IN THE MATTER OF Step By Step Home Improvement Corp and Geferson Ribeiro HIC No. 179619 Prior HIC No. 169855 Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation Docket No. 2021-048 allegation(s) in Complaint Some of the findings include: a. Abandoning or failing to perform without justification The Contractor's explanation that he completed 98% of the project in order to justify his conduct for not returning to finish was unpersuasive—such percentage of completion, even if it were true, would not justify his leaving Homeowners' kitchen in an unusable condition. Based on the above, this Hearing Officer finds substantial evidence to conclude that Contractor unjustifiably failed to perform the contracted-for project, in violation of §17(2). Conclusion: Accordingly, in light of the nature of these violations and the potential negative effect on Homeowners established by the facts of this Complaint, an ADMINISTRATIVE FINE in the amount of ONE THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($1,500.00) is hereby assessed against Contractor. This fine shall be paid in the form of a certified check or money order made payable to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.11 This payment must be made within thirty (30) days of the date of this decision. Failure to pay this administrative fine by October 17,2021 will result in the Office initiating a complaint to revoke the Contractor's certificate(s) of registration. It may also result in the referral of this matter to the Attorney General's office for further enforcement action and/or criminal prosecution. Also After we sent a demand for the refund, He changed his address twice, he is not at pond st, he is now at [company information redacted] so that's where you can reach him according to the secretary of commonwealth.

We've used Step by Step Home Improvement for more than ten years, for projects big and small (kitchen and bathroom remodels, painting, deck rebuilding, room renovation, small jobs, landscaping...) We have always had an excellent experience. Geferson is trustworthy and reliable and comes in on budget or lets us know ahead of time if he anticipates something will be more than estimated. Geferson's carpentry is particularly outstanding, and all the work he has done for us has been exceptional. Above all though, we really trust Geferson and his team - they're pleasant to have around and go above and beyond.

Geferson and his crew from Step by Step Home Improvement not only installed a beautiful and sturdy new wood fence with two gates, they were able to save an enormous flowering vine by carefully staking and reattaching it to the new fence. We are extremely pleased.

It went great from start to finish. Geferson and his team came on time for the quote, installation, and clean-up. The new fence looks awesome, and they were able to even custom-build small sections to close in awkward corners in my city yard, so no more worries about my puppy finding a way out. I would definitely hire again.

Geferson is a pleasure to work with. He was recommended to us for a basement bathroom project, and he did an amazing job. He was very patient with our design changes, and when something didn't fit properly he found creative solutions. The finished project is beautiful and two years later looks brand new. Our second project was a complete redo of all the cabinetry in the laundry room, and again it looks perfect. Finally, he did a strange project for us during the pandemic. Our back porch was a disaster underneath, and he cleaned the junk and bad dirt down four inches, put in a trellis and chicken wire, and filled it with clean stones. Voila, instant huge outside playroom for our cats. They absolutely love it. Geferson communicates very well and charges fair prices. He likes to charge only for the labor and actual construction material, and you pick and pay for all the fixtures, paint, tile, etc. That way you get exactly what you want. He is completely insured and bonded, but works by himself with associates coming in when needed. Like all contractors, he does several jobs at once, so he may disappear for a day or two, but we've never felt that things were stretched out too far. We are just starting out on a major rebuild of two more bathrooms, and looking forward to working with Geferson again!

Geferson was hired to do some general remodeling of a poorly cared for condo unit. Our timing was tight and he was willing to try to finish the job within that timeline when no one else would. He was very responsive to my communications, which was appreciated. The renovation included moving a fusebox and installation of new lights (done by a subcontractor) and a a mix of refreshing and replacing old drywall and trim, including the doors. We had a few closets constructed, floor refinished, and new finishes installed in the bathroom, which we are very happy with. Geferson works with multiple subcontractors, and sometimes there seemed to be some communication gaps regarding what needs to be done. The price was fair and consistent with the price and quality we were looking for. There were a couple of follow up items that needed to be modified (e.g. door that wouldn't close properly), that Geferson was happy to come back and fix. Overall, I would not hesitate to hire Geferson again for a similar type of job in the future.

Gefferson is great to work with; he’s knowledgeable, gives insight to the job and makes suggestions. Old concrete needed to be jacked out, a new slab poured and cured. Electrical +plumbing. In all it took a couple of weeks and cost $2500.

Work was quick and efficient. He stayed late Saturday afternoon until 6:00 PM to complete the job which included two last minute trips to Home Depot.

Geferson worked on a major project that transformed our dated 1930 colonial into a 21st century home. The highlight was turning an area of the home that combined a tiny kitchen, adjacent bathroom, enclosed dining room and breakfast nook into a modern chef's kitchen and dining area, which is now a showpiece of our home. Geferson also relocated and built a new bathroom and new mudroom, refinished hardwood flooring and added new hardwood flooring, installed new windows, upgraded the electrical system and made numerous other updates to our home. The project was complex and there were many moving parts but Geferson was able to navigate through the challenges of upgrading an old home with his many years of experience.

Geferson's estimate was very reasonable. As the project progressed, Geferson was incredibly communicative. He constantly made helpful suggestions for different challenges we faced in the project and was open to changes as needed. He was also happy to show receipts for other materials picked up for reimbursement, and was always very transparent when things needed to change. The project did run longer than originally estimated by Geferson, but dealing with city inspections and permits drove this timeline extension. I plan on using Geferson for future projects, have already gotten an estimate from him on the next project, and highly recommend him for anyone doing a renovation.

Very easy and pleasant experience working with Geferson. He was professional, and the work was done well. They left the attic even cleaner than they found it. We would absolutely work with Geferson again for future projects.

What was initially a medium sized remodel of painting, floors, ceilings turned into a much larger renovation. That was not the bad part. That was actually necessary. We redid the HVAC and all electrical. It was the right thing to do. But we have a very old house and Geferson and his workers didn't remove or dispose of asbestos properly. He also brought debris from another job to our backyard. He exposed his workers (one went to the hospital) and the house and we had to shut down the job and pay another $12000 to get it cleaned professionally. It was an awful and seemingly illegal oversight on his part. He finished the job once we were able to go back into the house but we lost everything in the house that was there - like sentimental family items. He finished the job but it was really bad quality at that point. He cut corners everywhere and it was not a 'finished job' like most people would expect. Since that happened, he avoided me and has never given me my final invoice or paperwork i've needed for taxes for 2 years. I've realized now that he blocked my phone number so I can't reach him. This has also put a terrible strain between our family. His lack of responsiveness is unbelievable. Do not hire him for any general contracting. He is a handyman, as he says in his description - great for a 'honey-do' list. I felt empathy for him throughout the job but at my own expense with my family. Also the job ended up being delayed a LONG time (months) and he never would give us a date while my niece had to find temporary housing and move twice.

I was very happy with Step By Step Home Improvement. Geferson is very professional and also a very nice guy, the quality of work is top rate and his prices are good. He has done 3 bathrooms for me and I will hire him again for other jobs. I highly recommend.

Charged extra because the job was tougher than he thought. I had to pick up many of the supplies. He was thorough and neat. Repair was done correctly. Have a much larger job that he won’t get because of concern for cost overruns and the aggravation of me needing to get all the supplies.

Gefferson was by far the best contractor we've ever used. Not only was his work excellent, but he helped us every "step" of the way in making choices and solving issues that arose, making sure we were happy with every decision. He paid attention to detail, made suggestions and recommendations as necessary and was always on point.
