M&R Floor Coatings

This individual came and quoted the job to level the floor in half of our basement so we could put floor down in August 2022. He said it would be done in 3 days. Subsequent occurrences: - Got COVID and started the job late. Understandable - Only poured half of the materials when self-leveling so the floor wasn't level. - He unevenly mixed sand in the concrete in certain parts, which caused holes in the concrete when we had to grind it down. - When he poured the rest, it made several parts of our floor too high, to the point where we wouldn't be able to open our back door if we installed the tile. - Came back several times to try to correct the floor but couldn't get it flat because so much grinding needed to be done. - We made the mistake of paying him in full after he came back for the 10th time, in good faith, so he could take his family on vacation... (our mistake) - Damaged the walls in the basement... - Got COVID a second time? a month or two after he had COVID last time... - Kept saying he would show up to fix the floor then wouldn't show up for weeks at a time. - After taking 2-3 months to finally stop showing up, the floor was NOT level, he still hadn't finished the job... and wasn't communicating with us about when he was going to come back. We had to then grind the $500 in materials we purchased into dust and remove it in trash bags, taking up several weeks of trash collection to fully dispose of the excess concrete that was poured. - My husband ended up finishing the job himself between December 2022 and February 2023.... and emailed M&R to let him know. He emailed us yesterday, July 27, 2023, (11 months after he quoted the job and 8 months after he stopped showing up) to say he wanted to come over and finish the job.... with the email title "stupid."... said he wants to "square this up for you and my own sanity" with a "Kind Regards" at the end.

From the get go should have been suspect. Raised price 3 times from first visit to actual paper estimate. tried to raise again with some b******* picture of my property. original face to face CONVERSATION was 3 coats of sealer 1 coat clear. (He scams you with estimate that just shows square footage not what he is going to do) shows up at shop with 4, 5 gallon drums from home depot (if i went to home depot, my cost 125 each) shop is 85x46 with offices,bathrooms, floor drains, parts room and oil tanks about 3000 square feet of working space. day 1 sand floor about 8:45 till 5. second day paint floor one coat total. I questioned him about change said THIS STUFF WAS BETTER. ( right away should of halted project) dried for 3 days moved tool boxs and equipment marked floor all up bad. he said it MIGHT wash off. day 3 sand back floor 9:00 to around 2:00, 4th day paint floor 9:00 Till 2:00 took lunch every day for a little over an hour, left one day for 2 hours to take care of emergency in belchertown. was out side on his phone for at least 5-8 min more then 11 times and was on his phone multiple times in my shop. within 2 months floor is a mess, completly worn of in some area's marked up badly in others. looks like crap. All of that is bad but it gets way worse. WILL NOT answer phone or return phone call. Answers emails though. not enough room here to explain. But he will absolultey not come evn look at floor. AT ALL nothing. This guy does not honor his work at all, at all. He will not come look at the job and give me his opinion. about 3 days work and 700 in product. I paid this s*** show 6 thousand dollars. If anyone in the South Hadley area wants proof of this crap job from begining to end come see me. or call i will show you pictures, videos of the work and emails from this guy refusing to come look at his crap work. I have tried everything to get him to help me and he wont so now we go to the internet. And beware he will answer this with a response that will make him look like he did and incredible job under a dire situation. just come look at my shop you will get all the answers.

DO NOT USE MATT FROM M&R FlOOR COVERINGS. We are presently moved out and have to re-do our floors. We allowed Matt to come into our brand new apartment with nothing in it so he could have full access to an empty place to avoid the exact situation we are in. We interviewed two people and saw his work. Found out later the one job he took credit for he actually got fired on and someone else finished. We gave him a significant deposit and he immediately asked for the remainder of the bill the next day. Thinking this was his best work, we didn’t pay it and have since asked for the deposit back due to having to not only re-do the floors, but paint the walls and clean everything he made a mess of. Upon seeing how he left it we were shocked ( plastic up in the bathrooms, splatters of floor coloring all over the walls, baseboards, cabinets, tub and toilets.) He took so little care and prep work there was color everywhere. Having just moved here from Buffalo, NY we thought we did our homework and he talked a good game but did not deliver. It looks like a child completed this job. I asked for the deposit back and haven’t heard a word. Planning on taking him to small claims court after we tally all these added expenses as we have to move out and do out condo in 2 phases because of all the furniture we moved in. My husband and I have to move the furniture from one side of the apartment to the other between the phases. He has worked in the building before so knew the rules and didn’t abide by them prompting the building manager to contact us late one night saying our new neighbors were going to call the cops on him. We told him he had to leave and he said he wasn’t finished and we had our moving truck coming the next day. He knew are hard deadline from the beginning because we had to extend our Airbnb and storage of our furniture from NY. I reiterated the deadline some many times I felt that my redundancy was almost annoying. I told him we couldn’t extend it at all and he guaranteed it would be done on time. He finished at 10:00pm the night before move in and what we came into was a complete mess. We feel that the surface has so many mixed textures we don’t even thing the floors were sealed which’s was our main goal. There were two boot marks left in the flooring and they even ripped an extension cord off the wall and threw it on top of the closet. I guess it was in their way. Never have I done so much homework only to have this type of incompetence. I’ve reached out to him several times since and have gotten no response. It was a lot of money for the work that was done here. Photos show how bad it came out. I can only include 10 but I have many more. Oh, and our new contractor didn’t even take any money until the job is done to our satisfaction. I could continue but this nightmare has already taken too much of my time and money, please be warned.
