Baystate Dental PC

I feel like I need to split this up into 2 reviews. 1) the actual dentists. Not a lot to say here except they are great! Caring & professional I have rarely received care as good & often much worse. If I was just reviewing them it would be 4-6 stars. 2) the company Baystate Dental. Pros: The equipment and facilities seem up to date and well maintained. It's the only dentist I could find that stayed open so late (8pm) most days except Mondays. Cons: don't sign up for multiple contact methods. They will use all of them, multiple times, to remind you of your appointment. They keep changing the story on how my insurance works & how their financing works. I was told my insurance paid x amount per procedure, next time it was that same amount per year. I wasn't misunderstanding, I made sure they were clear each time. They also changed their story about financing. Once it was I would only have to pay x amount a month until paid off, the next it was that they made you sign up for a specific credit card. The REAL con: this credit card is terrible. I looked into it. Imagine store credit card meets pay day loan & you will know what I mean. If you have no credit or bad credit you are S.O.L. because they will not work with you in anyway. The criminally insane con: they charge insurance companies less than they do un-insured or those who's benefits have run out. Meaning if you have insurance or still have benefits they would charge you $155 for a filling with the insurance paying 100 & you 55. Without insurance, or if your benefits run out, that price tag jumps up to $215. Why? Because your not a multi-million dollar company who could take its business elsewhere & you don't have another choice. So if money isn't an issue for you, this is a great company. If you can't pay hundreds to thousands out of pocket, get ready to bend over and take it. This is a cookie cutter franchise-style-healthcare system that's more concerned about putting money into some C.E.O.'s pocket than getting you the care you need. I sincerely hope you can find someone who cares and will actually work with you to get the work you need done.

Baystate Dental is a assembly line dental practice with not continuity and questionable referral practices. We have been going here for years for general dentistry, clean and xrays. It has always been very clean, new and state of the art. I always had an issue though with the fact you NEVER see the same dentist. You will see the same hygienist but when she is done, a dentist comes in, who you probably have never seen before, give you the once over and sends you on your way. There is no continuity, your dentist know nothing about you besides your chart. This is important later in the review. If you have to reschedule an appointment here, they are so busy, you will literally be pushed out 2-4 months. A lot can happen in 2-4 months. That time could literally be the difference between a filling and a tooth being dead. Finally, the main concern here is the potential false advertising of one of their dentist. Dr. Bart Cioccia, DDS was whom we were referred to in house for braces for our son. We were told, "we are going to refer you to our orthodontist Bart Cioccia." Well it turns out he is not an orthodontist. We were told this by someone and checked with the State and it is true, he is not. Even though if you read his description on the Bay State Dental web site, it would lead you to believe that he is. Maybe this does not matter to some of you because yes, you do not need to be an orthodontist to install braces, but when you are paying $4-8 thousand dollars, wouldn't you want someone who is actually an orthodontist? I would and I do. Back to the continuity. Because a different dentist looks at your teeth every time and there is no continuity, we were told there was an immediate need for braces because the dentist was not familiar with the patient. A second opinion outside the practice was a resounding "not ready for braces yet."

The dentist asked if I wanted to have a different procedure done than what was previously thought I needed. We opted for the cheaper version. It worked. They are all so nice at this office.
 I do not go to the office on Main St., I go to Post Office Park in Wilbraham, Ma. I went to the West Spfld. office for app.3 years and just changed over to Wilbraham this year.

I have been to Baystate Dental many times over the past few years. I have mostly seen Dr. Gary Circosta, but I have seen two other dentists who were also fabulous. The staff rock. They are all friendly, professional, and know their stuff. I've never had a billing issue and the communication is top-notch. Dr. Circosta is a seasoned veteran at all aspects of dentistry. He thinks about all the options and explains the benefits and risks of each approach. He is a very kind and considerate man and has earned my trust. I actually enjoy going to the dentist....well, most of the time.

I haven't had any dental problems but they're OK. My only problem is that the dentist isn't there all the time and I like to go to the same dentist all the time. They have a policy to try and put you to whoever is on duty. They're very friendly, they hygienists are good and the dentist I like is good. But everything has changed. With this setting you go to the company not an individual. So some people may not like that.

Both of my appointments went well.  The office has up to date dental equipment that will give a more thorough, detailed picture of one's full set of teeth.  The six month cleaning was painless and they made me feel at ease with the dental hygenist.  My scheduled apointment was timely, and the actual cleaning was done effectiently.   As for payment, the billing was sent directly to my insurance company which covered the full cleaning.  The office seems to accept nearly most insurances.

The staff were very friendly and helpful with all of my questions/concerns. The cleaning went very well and the dentist was extremely informative about future procedures that I needed to have done. I would recommend this dental office to anyone looking for a new dentist.

cleaning went fine. . .estimate for cosmetics was fine and they want to do a thorough job. . .its up to me to decided what to do. . .they gave me a few options

They are very friendly, and I have been very satisfied with my appointments there with the service I have received and with the staff. They also have a great payment plan. We go there every six months. They are typical dentists with their availability.

They do a good job and I would recommend them.

A very thorough exam was done and the cause of pain was determined . A mouth guard was made to be used at night. The office is very clean and modern. All equipment is very up to date.All the people working in the West Spfld. office have been wonderful. Everything was fully explained. I will be returning on a regular basis.

I have nothing but good things to say about Baystate Dental.I have always been treated very well by the staff and Doctors. They are informative and answer all my questions and are very helpful in dealing with insurance. The work I have had done is excellent and superb pain management.
I have been to the Chicopee and West Springfield offices and have had excellent care in both. I can't wait for thier Westfield office to open.

They need better dentist. The dentists are not very thorough.

I am very satisfied with both DR Bart and Dr Kevin.

They have friendly staff and have really flexible hours.

I love them.  They are right up-to-date.  They are very technology oriented.  I work in the tech field, so it is good for me.  The doctors and the people there are really great.  They are nice and make sure I am taken care of.  I have also gone to them for tooth extraction and it was painless.  They are very available and accommodating.  The office is clean and well kept.  Everybody there is very friendly.  They are fantastic.  I would use them and recommend them.
