The veterinarian there has office hours and has rooms there where they board pets. They also treat and rehab injured wildlife. They have classes and educational programs for kids. They have school groups in there all the time. It is a great place. They have tours for kids and the kids  can see the hospital where the animals are treated. They just built a great big aviary that has two sections to it; one side is for owls and the other side is for haul hawks and other birds of prey. They come in with injured wings or a big problem is they eat a mouse that has eaten rat poison so the owls and the hawks are poisoned. They also get water birds like swans and ducks that have eaten lead shot from shotgun pellets they find on the ground and then they get lead poisoning from that. They have a great big tub, I think it is for cattle watering and stuff. Swans also rehab in the tub. It is pretty great. They use a lot of volunteers that are high school students on the weekends -- because they are open on weekends. They do have internships for veterinary medicine students. The boarding is so important because people can put animals other that dogs and cats there, like turtles and bunnies.

New England Wildlife Center has one of the few Veterinarians in New England that treats Reptiles. He also treats birds and other exotic animals. They also board exotic pets. They are the only place that will board reptiles and birds. We have finally found somewhere to board the turtles. They have weekend hours which is wonderful. The Veterinarian's name is Greg Mertz DVM.

They don't treat dogs and cats. They provide boarding services and veterinary care for odd pets like birds, reptiles and rodents; they are the only place that will board reptiles. My pets are well taken care of here.
