A week and a half before the date of service, we called their office and made a service appointment for Mon. 9/17 for 8:30 am. I stayed home from work to meet the plumber, and spent one and a half hours waiting around, during which time I called their office and left a message to find out what was going on. We finally received a call stating that the person who was going to be there “went home sick, after a late night with his friends”. Before the response to our call, there was no call from Cichy Plumbing and Heating to let us know the plumber was not coming or to change the appointment. The caller apologized, and an appointment was made for the following day, Tues. 9/18, again for 8:30 am.
The next morning, after a half hour of waiting, I called and left a message at 9:00 am. Very soon after the plumber showed up. I said that all he had to do was call if he was running late, but that it was not good customer service to just show up late, more so after the previous day. He apologized. I left, and my wife was there while he made the repair. The job was completed and the work was professional.
After he was done, my wife offered to write a check to pay for the service, and the plumber indicated that the office would simply send a bill. She then said to him, “that was 45 minutes for the service, right?” He said, “yes, 45 minutes”. No mention of a flat fee, and no mention of a minimum. So when we received the bill, which does not say flat fee, or outcall, or travel, we were a little surprised to see time = 1.0 hours.

They are very responsive, when I called them they came right away and did an excellent job.

I really like them. Their price is reasonable. They always do good work. I will call them in a heartbeat. I would use them in the future.

This project was one of a number of projects done for us by Mal Cichy Plumbing and Heating. We started having issues with pipes banging (water hammer). Mr Cichy, came out soon after we called, checked a number of things and told us he felt the problem was because of high water pressure. He told us the best solution would be to install a water pressure control valve in the main supply line. He explained that the valve would help reduce the banging and reduce the wear and tear on other valves like our washing machine. He gave us an estimate and we decided to go ahead. The work was done promptly and the valve did reduce most of the noise. But, there was still an occasional hammer when one toilet was flushed. We called Mr. Cichy to ask if there was any thing else we could do. He came right out to look at the problem. Discovered that the fill valve in the toilet was sticking. And replaced it no charge. That was the last of the banging pipes.

We have been using Mal Cichy Plumbing and Heating for all our plumbing work. We started probably 20 years ago when on a Thanksgiving day, with a house full of people, our sewer line backed up. We called a number of plumbers. Mr. Cichy was the only one to reply. And he called back right away. He came right to the house and worked most of the morning (remember this was Thanksgiving day) to get some tree roots out of our sewer line. It was not a simple stick in the snake and break the clog. But, he stuck with it and got us back in working order. We had him come back later and replace a portion of the sewer line. He was so nice to work with we have been calling him ever since.

Mal Cichy has been a plumber for many years, he is very experienced. He knows all the quirky things in plumbing. He is careful but he will also try and work around things and make them happen. If I had a specific plumbing job I would see if Cichy could come up and do it. It might take a while but he is very good. He comes when I call him. He is a little bit cheaper just because he is a private individual. I trust Cichy in the house and I have had him come and work when no one's home. I'm careful with that because years ago I had some things stolen from my house by a repair person. Cichy is reliable. He comes when he says he would come. It may take him a little bit longer to give one a commitment unless it's an absolute emergency because he is a one person company. However when he gets to work, the job is well done. He explains thing's which is important to me so I know how to take care of whatever is being done; I like to know how things work. He is good with that. He knows his stuff.
