The father of one of the owners was the one who did the labor I was able to dig the drainage area around the house and found the footings which saved me close to $1,800. But they did a great and safe job repairing my home.

Carmine was great, he was friendly and knowledgeable, and walked me through every step of his inspection of our basement. He gave me some great feedback while he was there and gave me a realistic idea as to what to expect in terms of pricing of the repairs necessary for my home. His report was delivered prompty and went into great detail as to what needs to be repaired and his suggested repairs, down to exact measurements and types of materials to be used. I'm very happy with what we received and feel much better about engaging contractors to do the work necessary now that I know exactly what should be done.

I was very happy with the results. The first iteration required a bit too much reconstruction in my opinion so we worked further and found an ideal option to insure the structural integrity of the project. I have found engineering firms difficult to deal with in the past. My experience with Roome & Guarracino was a positive one and I was satisfied with the value.

Carmine was great - punctual, easy-going, and straightforward. We are doing a small kitchen renovation, which involves only slight modifications to an existing (but very old) supporting beam (built from a 2x4 truss). The job is really small, probably not worth the effort for most professionals, but being the first time renovating a structural wall I wanted some confirmation that our plan made sense. Carmine was local and happy to come out the next business day, take a quick look, and provide a plan. The small size did not mandate multiple hours of work, and Carmine was willing to provide a flat rate for this simple job. The visit was short, but he was willing to answer any and all questions I had about the process. He sent back a confirmation email just hours later. Would definitely recommend to anyone with small (or large) renovation projects.

I spoke with Mr Roome on the phone at length about the structural issues raised during a home inspection on a house we are selling. He wanted to know clearly what had been seen and what we hoped to accomplish. He said for $250, he could send an inspector and for an additional fee, he could produce an officially stamped letter outlining what needed to be done (if anything). The inspector came and made his recommendations. We agreed that we would like the letter for an additional fee of $150. The inspector was able to come the day after I called and we had the stamped letter one day later. It was all very professional and there were no surprises. We were very happy with the experience.

Carmine was careful and professional, attempting to really understand what was going on with the foundation. He looked for specific types of evidence that there had been continuing motion of the foundation, and explained what he was looking for and finding as he examined. In the end, we were satisfied (as much as you can be after one hour of non-destructive testing) by what he found, and convinced that while the foundation had shifted some at one point in the past, it was now stable and was not a cause for concern. Carmine also helped us understand what options would be available if things degraded in the future, though he had no major concerns that would be the case. The rear porch area was a slightly larger concern, but Carmine gave some general suggestions on what would be required to remediate the problems he noticed. The report he prepared afterwards was very professional looking, contained excellent information, and will be very useful to us when we go to sell the house ourselves. Both I and my fiancee are engineers (non-structural) and he spoke to us as professionals, while still explaining the aspects of the structure which were new to us. He was a few minutes late, but had driven from North of Boston to well South of Boston during rush hour to accommodate our schedule (he had suggested he would prefer another time that day). At no point did he seem to be rushing, and he ensured we had no questions when he left.

I needed an assessment of slab settling in my house, which was for sale. A previous assessment without a written report was done 15 years earlier when I purchase the property, but the buyers' structural engineer had forecast possible future damage without significant work and soils assessment/reinforcement. Mr. Guarracino found no structural damage or potential hazards after inspecting the areas he was able to view, and found that the settling had occurred evenly and the house was sound. This echoed the results from 15 years earlier. Although he did not believe additional settling would occur (as none had in the past 15 years), he could not ascertain this with certainty without a soils analysis. He did not see the need for any remedial work. As in a previous review, he did not make a big deal out of the issue with the house. The written report did take a couple of days extra, but he indicated that would be the case at the inspection, due to a family issue, and did provide the report.

Carmine came within 3 days of my call. He was prompt, efficient, and polite. He didn't make a big deal out of the job. He had a few suggestions and worked closely with my contractor to be sure that his suggestion was the easiest and most practical. He said he'd come back after the work was completed and then would issue the stamped letter. We called him one week later, he came the next day, and by the following day, the letter was ready.
