MINUTEMAN RESTORATION

We called Bert Freeman from Prospect Upholstering to get the chairs completely redone. Bert told us he doesn't do wood refinishing, and often works often with Minuteman for wood trim. He called Ken Harvey to get an estimate ($100 - 150 per chair), and arranged for the work to be done by him. Ken called us when he got the carved panels off and had removed the old, peeling varnish, and we went to his shop to select the new stain. We brought a small piece of furniture and asked him to match the stain, and it took him about two minutes to find a match and show it to us. We got the impression that he is quite knowledgeable and experienced, and plan to ask him to repair/refinish other wood furniture. A couple weeks later, Bert delivered the chairs. Both the upholstery and the carved wood panels are lovely.

We dropped of the drawers and they took about 10 days to call us to tell us the job was finished. They had said it would take at least a week. The drawers came out perfectly clean of paint. It cost $35 a drawer, which was a bit expensive, but they did a good job.
