I would hire Maureen in a heartbeat to cater another event
What is most impressive about Maureen is her ability to remain consistent year after year. She is an absolute dream to work with and will always go that extra mile to make certain that all our dietary needs are met! Her preparation is superb as are all her classic presentations. My family looks forward to her menu each and every year and it has never disappointed them.
Fantastic as always. I have used Maureen the few times I have wanted to do something special. Some college friends were in for parent's weekend, and Boston is crazy because of the Head of Charles etc. So, I thought I would do something special which didn't involve going out to a restaurant.
Maureen put of cheese tray with fruit and candied nuts, passed tomato bisque shooter with grilled shrimp and fresh corn risotto cakes. Some of us might have been happy to end there, but we then sat down to a salad with goat cheese with spiced pecans and figs, an amazing dinner of rack of lamb with potatoes pave and glazed baby carrots. So scrumptious my mouth is still watering.
For dessert we had individual apple tarts with Maureen's homemade vanilla ice cream. French macaroons were available with coffee for those few who could still have room to eat.
This was such an incredible treat......for us all!
"I am very sorry (and surprised) to read your review, As it has been 2 years since the event, I don't remember any specific details and could not find any paperwork from an event around that date under your name. Regardless, I am sorry that this was your experience with us. I pride myself on my professionalism and cannot imagine what would have left you with your impression. However, certainly under no circumstances would I leave the job to "insist on having a cigarette." As you can see from all my other reviews on this site, your experience is an unusual one. I do wish you had spoken to me about your concerns at the time so that we could have possibly avoided your being left unsatisfied."
"I am just as amazed by this report as you were by your experience, given customer services is my number one priority, as evidenced by all the other reviews on the sites, as well as my being awarded the Angies List Service Award over the last four years.  Indeed it may have taken some time for us to set up the face-to face meeting, as we had to coordinate three busy schedules. Immediatley after our initial meeting I contacted you with rental information in your area. I then sent out a preliminary menu, and I never heard back from you.  I don't routinely follow up with customers as I get a lot of inquries from people who for one reason or another don't move forward with the job.  I have no record of your attempts to contact me by phone or email. My last communication from you by emails was April 16th.  I am sorry that we clearly had some miscommunication or more accurately lack of communication. Again, as you can see, that is not my style at all. I pride myself on my communication skills and my customer service."
Maureen arranged for the rentals, the wine and the food - everything except the cake. She arrived early and showed her crew how to make the house look beautiful. The servers were friendly and professional.
The food was delicious - among the highlights were asparagus soup, bacon-wrapped scallops and homemade kimchi (hors d'oeuvre), braised boneless short ribs and parsnip mashed potatoes (entree) and homemade salted-caramel ice cream. Maureen is a real foodie - the menu was seasonal and local, and her wine choices were excellent.
She easily beat the cost estimate of a larger company that I had started working with.
All in all, a great and memorable experience.
The food was excellent and service was top notch, but what was also extremely important to me was Maureen's ability to manage our allergy needs. The Gluten allergy requires very careful food preparation and cleanliness to avoid contamination. Maureen mentioned that she is actually gluten free at home and thus I was comfortable that she understood how careful we needed her to be. I highly recommend Maureen and will absolutely consider working with her again.
Maureen was prompt in contacting me and we were fortunate that her plans were to be in the area .... once we confirmed the date, Maureen was intent on hearing all that I considered for a buffet style dinner....and my concerns for tranporting it all to the location.
She was extremely patient, had numerous suggestions.. and any concerns I had, she was quick to solve. We worked out a fantastic menu....and all through the process, Maureen was very keen on knowing the seasonings and ingredient preferences for us.....and we truly appreciated her zeal for organic meats, produce, etc. Every single entree and side dishes as well as condiments and deserts were fabulous. Brined Turkey, apple stuffing baked perfectly, baked ham (organic and delicious), squash with pommegranate, haricot verts with toasted almonds, beyond yummy mashed and perfectly sweet/tart cranberry sauce!!!...pies to die for. She was a perfect 10 for flavor and getting it just right for each and every item. It tasted better than our family recipes.....and everyone went for thirds - there was nothing left!!
Maureen arrived at our home right at the scheduled time. The meats were in a resting stage - with just enough time to transport and place on the table - perfect temperature. All the other dishes required just a slight warming once we arrived. She also supplied us with the platters, serving bowls, condiment dishes, servers, etc. It all presented beautifully.
In the end, Maureen gave us a perfectly seamless catered event....which did not seem catered as we all sat around the dining table and enjoyed what truly tasted just like a home cooked Christmas dinner!
Maureen Kelly is a talented, competent and remarkable chef..she truly knows her business...I certainly know we will be using her again and again.
I picked Maureen from Angie's List and we did everything over the phone. The food was delicious, the presentation wonderful. There are was enough, just enough food, since so many kids came and wanted to eat the delicious food she prepared. We figured that the kids wouldn't eat as much as they did since this was the 6th party that day. It was a testament to Maureen's cooking! I knew I would like her when she said she would made Asian noodles and serve them with chop sticks out of little take out containers. She thought of everything. I had a wonderful time at the party! It wasn't until a few days before that I understood that service the day of the party was extra, so I was a little taken aback at how much I was spending on my daughter's graduation party. That said, it was really worth every penny. For another happy occasion, I would hire Maureen again. Her staff were great as well. Everyone had a great time at the party and loved the food and the presentation, the kids and adults.
