Description of Work: My project was too small for them but they were absolutely wonderful to deal with. Steve called me several times and when we finally connected he offered to come look at my projects even though they didn't really have availability to work on a "honey do"type of project list. He offered to do this as he was meeting with a few tradespeople that they use who he thought would be perfect for the job! After not even getting calls returned from many contractors, Steve went above and beyond to understand what i needed and to use his resources to put me in contact with someone who could do the work. He was beyond kind and communicative. I know they have a very long waiting list, but if i had a major renovation I would hire them in a minute even if I had to wait a year or more for them to do the work. I found out after I called them while looking at their website that a client of mine own had used them and she also gave them rave reviews and said that they had done all the work in their Cambridge home over a 30 year period.

 + 0 moreCommunity Builders is fantastic. It can be tough to get on their schedule, because they are so good, but it's well worth it. They have worked in every kind of old home, and seen it all....so when you're in the midst of a renovation and you find unexpected issues (as you invariably do in an older home), they were never thrown, and always had great suggestions on how to fix them. Extremely professional, with extraordinary communication along every step of the way, Steve Preston (who managed our project), was a pleasure to work with.
Description of Work: Community Builders came up with a plan for, and executed an extensive amount of work on the top floor of our unit in a two-family house in Cambridge, including; - Demolishing the roof deck, and installing a larger one with railings that were to-code (replacing one that was definitely not to code) - Adding in an additional heating unit for the top floor in the attic, and installing an air conditioning unit - Adding a bathroom to that floor - Putting in 5 or so skylights - Revising the flow to the three rooms on that floor, and changing it from a drop-ceiling acoustic tile monstrosity, to a breath-taking vaulted ceiling space that made everyone we showed it to 'ooh and ahh'.

 + 1 moreCDC have been my general constractors for years, they are extremely responsive, thoughtful and thorough. They are working through word of mouth for the most part, which tells you that they are very appreciated.
Description of Work: They have done 5-6 jobs for me over the last 20 years 1) kitchen renovation 2) built a new building from bottom up 3) numerous small renovation jobs involving porches, stairways, moving walls etc.
