Great! They are smart and responsive. They weren't the cheapest folks we spoke to, but they were the clear winners in terms of their solutions and the way in which they interacted with our staff.

My 13 year old Gateway desktop died and I needed help recovering the data. Charlie from BTC made a preliminary house call (at my request) and made the grim diagnosis. He then removed the hard drive and took it back to the BTC shop where they used a variety of methods over a period of weeks to get as much usable data off the drive. Despite the severity of the situation, they were able to recover quite a bit of my data. They organized it into: files in their original format, and files that could only be recovered in and quot;rawand quot; form.
At my request they loaded the recovered data onto a new external hard drive to be transferred to my new computer. I drove to their shop to pick it up. I had neglected to tell them my new computer was a Mac, but Matt and Yochai spent a good amount of time instructing me how to move the data onto my new computer and then reformat the external hard drive as a backup drive for my Mac. They showed me how they had organized the data. Both were very generous in offering any more phone support I might need, and offered to keep looking thru the old hard drive data should I find anything crucial had not been recovered.
They were very fair about charging me the and quot;member'sand quot; discount even before I decided to purchase the membership. I like the fact that they are a cooperative and seem genuinely interested in helping a hapless technophobe. They never made me feel incompetent.
More recently I called them to get help figuring out how to email an old version of an Excel spreadsheet. They helped me solve the problem which I had spent several days wrestling with. I wish I had just called them first.
Not only would I use them again, I definitely plan to, as I have purchased a membership to make sure that I keep my computers up to date and optimally functioning. I hope never to need their data recovery services again though.
I'd like to take advantage of their Thursday evening classes, the topics of which can be suggested by the customers.
For me the only drawback is the drive to Somerville. If it were not a bit far for me, I would be there every week.
