Mike from A & A plumbing was great! Shower stopped working on Monday morning. I noodled around with it a bit, figured I couldn't fix it and called A & A because of the reviews. Mike answered the phone and was at our house within an hour. He explained everything that he was doing and why. He was very professional throughout the process. He had let me know the range of possible costs on the phone earlier (competitive with other area plumbers) and the actual cost was exactly the low end of the range. The shower was fixed quickly. I will certainly call A &A again.

We had gotten an expensive quote from someone else and picked Mike out of a hat for a second opinion. He came over quickly, and established that the original quote had misdiagnosed the issue. Fixed the toilet promptly and charged a reasonable amount. We've been using his services for the many years since, always successfully.

my godmother was in the hospital and wanted to go home but her toilet was not a handicap toilet. I called him late in the afternoon and explained what the situation was and he changed his schedule around to accommodate me. You don't find many people that will do that these days. While we have a professional relationship, I never feel like I'm just any client. He's a good man and does great work!

Mike Gogos (the Owner) resolved an extremely difficult and time sensitive situation for me. He promptly returned my call and scheduled a timely visit to assess the situation. He explained everything that needed to be done and why. I always want to know, "Why?". Mike also gave me a reasonable estimate of the cost and was able to work me into his busy schedule. Only plumber to return my call on a Sat. (called 5 plumbers). Came over a few hours later and fixed pipe. Have use of sink and dishwasher again. Very happy!

Mike has done numerous services/15 plus jobs over the years for us and every time the jobs were done courteously and professionally. Prompt, professional and courteous!

Michael was great, able to help us out in a pinch.  We just moved to the area (medford) and were having countertops done, when our countertop crew informed us day of that they were not able to do the plumbing work (assuming we already knew this).  The scramble was on to find a plumber who wasn't going to screw us, and we stumbled onto Michael and A&A plumbing.  He called right back after leaving a message, and came by later that afternoon to look at the job and give a quote.  he originally had quoted over the phone (which was nice to have an idea before he arrived) about $500 for the job; once he arrived, he adjusted it down due to the time and parts he would need.  He was willing to use our old faucet (at our request) but suggested getting a new one as it was pretty much now or never with the install (much easier to access all at the same time as the install, save on labor costs etc.)... so I ran to home depot that night, and he came back first thing the next AM, a saturday, and went at it for about 3 hours.  he was very thorough, explained everything he was doing, and was very fair with his price.  Overnight before he came our furnace happened to crap out, and he was able to diagnose and fix that problem after helping with the sink.  He was great and we will be using A&A for all of our plumbing needs in the future.

Mike Gogos is very punctual, honest and professional. I've been using Mike for plumbing work for a couple years now. He's always able to schedule the work right away and shows up on time. He did a great job on the pop-up drain assembly and food disposal installations. I haven't had any problems with any of the work he's done for me. I'll continue to use Mike in the future and recommend him to friends and family.

I found Aand A Plumbing on Angie's list and I gave Michael Gogas a call. He responded within a couple of hours and even called back twice when I didn't answer the first time. When we connected, he asked a few basic questions about what we needed, asked what size the water heater was, and said he could help us the next morning. When I called back with the size and to confirm the appointment, he said he could try to do it as his last job of the day (same day). This was great for us because it meant we wouldn't have to take cold showers for another day. Also our water heater was leaking and we worried about that. None of the other plumbers we contacted offered this. Further, he gave us a quote on the phone which was exactly what he charged us. Some of the plumbers would not give a quote until they saw the set up. Others gave a higher quote.
So he came by around 6:30pm with the new water heater, just as planned. It took him a couple of hours to install it. He was polite, courteous, made sure the removal of the tank did not make a mess. He answered questions. I actually put my kids to sleep while all of this was going on, but my husband says he was very professional and did the job well. Proof of this was that I had hot water in my shower the next morning!

We had a leaky toilet that formed a puddle whenever flushed. We also had issues with our forced hot water system, such as banging noises and very loud gurgling noises. Michael responded promptly to my call and came over to take a look. As for the toilet, it was an issue with the level of the flange compared to the floor level. He said a permanent fix would involve addressing the flange, but he fixed the leak issue for now by adding a wax ring. As for the boiler, he purged it to let out the air in the system. I had also noticed some wetness on the floor near the relief valve. So Michael lowered the water inlet pressure and made sure the pressure of the expansion tank was as it should be. He also lowered the high limit temperature of the boiler, which was set too high.
In the days following his service visit, I noticed that the boiler was running much higher than the high limit temp that Michael had set and the pressure inched close to the 30 psi limit. Michael stopped by to determined that the high limit aquastat wasn't functioning properly. He didn't have a replacement part, so he didn't even charge me for this follow-up visit. The plumbers who did the replacement (Allen Plumbing) charged me $200 for diagnosis for determining what Michael already had, and wouldn't waive it! Anyway, that's a story for my review of Allen Plumbing.
Michael is conscientious and does quality work. Will definitely use him again.

Mike did some plumbing work for our condo association back in June, so we were happy to call him back to replace our water heater which had started leaking. Mike again delivered great service. The cost was a bit high, compared to a typical heater replacement, but this was due to the expense of the power vented heater that our unit required. We provided all of the pertinent information about our current water heater (serial number, part number). Mike picked up a replacement, and showed up to get the job done. The old heater was out in no time, but prior to bringing up the new heater, Mike double checked some measurements. It turned out that even though this heater was listed as an exact replacement for our old one, the dimensions were slightly different. Since our water heater is in a very tight space, with a unique venting setup - this was a deal breaker and the new heater would not fit. Mike knew we were desperate for hot water with an 18 month old in the house, so he didn't hesitate to get on the phone to track down a new heater. After many phone calls, he found one, trucked down to Mattapan from Somerville, in traffic, to pick up the new heater so he could get the job done same day. Awesome!

We had an incredibly positive experience with Mike from Aand A. This was a tough and confusing job. Over three days, Mike ended up pulling 10+ pounds of cloth/baby wipes out of our old clay main drain. He fought with the drain until he got it clear. When things weren't going well, and he wasn't sure how to proceed he called in and met with someone from the city, to review possible problems, and the layout of main drain tie-ins on our street. This helped him figure out he needed to snake even further.
He got the job done and we haven't had a problem since. Mike clearly had a ton of experience, and a good array of equipment to tackle the problem. He was always on time, communicated clearly, super friendly, and wiling to listen to questions and suggestions. He quoted prices up front, which were fair for the amount of time he spent here, and he stuck to them. We never felt we were being taken advantage of, and Mike really busted his a** to get the job done. I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone.

He is very good to talk to and listens if I make suggestions. He wants to do a good job and I will use them again in the future.

A and A is terrific. Our Kohler shower valve (and gt;20 years old) suddenly produced a huge quarterly water bill. Two plumbers told us that Kohler valves were impractical to remove from the pipe, and that they would have to take down the tiled wall and replace not only the shower valve but part of the water main behind it. One estimated $2200 or more; the other couldn't do the work without his tiler, who was unavailable for weeks. Michael estimated $675 and did the work the following day. He replaced the "impractical to remove" valve; to access it, he took down exactly four tiles, which he covered with a larger shower plate and sealed. The house's main shutoff valve proved to be frozen, so he replaced that, too. (It hadn't been used in ten years.) He took about five hours, part of going to get a new shutoff valve. No muss, no fuss. Our bathroom is very quiet now, and we are calling A and A next time we need a plumber.

Mike responded to a blocked drain that resulted in some water leakage in my cellar. We tried to reproduce the leak, which I thought was from one specific spot, but running the same tap again did not result in any leak. Undeterred, Mike took a look at the water level in the main drain and diagnosed blockage. He quoted me the price, which I believe to be market rate, and agreed to have the drain snaked.
Mike was extremely courteous and conscientious of the space. He helped move objects out of the way and he cleaned up after himself so well that you would not have known this service was done.
At the end of the day, he took well over an hour to perform this service, with plenty of physical exertion, so I felt it was definitely worth my money for the effort and expertise involved.
