BUTLER CONSTRUCTION

Mike's work is passable, but his inexplicable delays, unprofessionalism and outright theft tilts the scale in the negative direction. We had Mike finish our basement and lay a stone patio. He had decent ideas for the design and recommended some pricey, but good materials such as steel framing, blown-in insulation, a fresh-air circulator, and wood/plastic tiles for sub floor under the carpet and over the cement. However, what he had quoted as 8 weeks of work ended up taking more than 4 months, and he went over budget. At the end, I owed him $800 and he came over to review the "punch list" of several things that needed to be done. For example, replacing a cracked tile in the laundry room, venting the dryer to the outside, fitting a piece of trim to the edge of the utility sink, and painting the base molding. I paid him the $800 and then he never showed up to do the punch list items. He disappeared, never responding to e-mails or phone calls. He walked away from an unfinished job with my cash in his pocket.

Terrible, over on costs estimates, poor subcontractors [Grady Mechanical to do HVAC], poor workmanship, unprofessional behavior. Did not meet contruction time line. Every thing that could go wrong did go wrong. Ended up going bankrupt & I had to sue him personally & his business. I won but of course he is such a dead beat he has not paid the settlement. It is still in litigation...the nightmare never ends....
