Water damage, incompetence, waste of money. Don’t let Solid State onto your property. I contracted with Solid State to redo my siding and replace the decking and rails on my cantilevered balcony in the fall of 2019. It was a roughly $50K job (initially, anyway). Solid State’s shoddy work only became apparent to me about a year later, when, in December 2020, I saw water stains on my ceiling, right below the where the joists of my balcony enter the interior of my house. More water damage in January of 2021 - this is when I contacted Solid State and asked them to take a look. Jeff sent a whole series of people to my house over the course of about 2 years, first to do some work on the exterior of the house, then to replace my balcony’s sliding door, at a cost to me of over $7,000, then more work on the exterior... none of this fixed the water penetration. They cut open my interior wall and ceiling to better understand the leak, still couldn't fix it. All in all, incompetent.

We had our home re-sided with HardieBoard, with new windows and new front and side doors, as well. Solid State worked with suppliers to make sure everything went as smoothly as possible. They went over a lot of up-front options to make sure we were happy with the new look of our home. Installation was easy, clean, professional, and the final results look amazing. Chris (our project manager) and Jeff (owner) took a lot of time to make sure we were satisfied with everything. Let's face it: these types of projects can be expensive and fill you with anxiety. Take the best route and go with these guys. You'll be happy you did.

We had an excellent experience with Solid State. We highly recommend them. From initial meetings with Andy to the final checks with Chris, this was arguably the best renovation experience we've had (and we've done a lot of work with our older fixer-upper). Any concerns or questions we had were promptly addressed, and the only notable snag, after we received a prompt reply from Andy, was addressed by Jeff himself (without us having to ask for it to be escalated to his level). Ours was essentially three projects (windows, doors, and full residing). Given how major two of the three of those were, it's amazing how relatively smooth it all went. Solid State even accomodated custom requests with ease. The compliments from neighbors never cease. Many have said they saw how happy the crew was, the care they put into it, and have expressed interest in some day doing similar work because of how well this all turned out. We went with a higher bid for the sake of customer service and it was worth every penny. Not only was their own crew exceptional, but their electrician and gutter subs were top notch as well. There is clearly a lot of careful planning, thought, expert hiring, and quality control going on behind the scenes. We just wish they did more kinds of work, because we'd certainly consider them again!

If you are looking for a professional roofing company I highly recommend Solid State Construction. I had many roofing companies come out and quote me prices along with describe what will be done about to correct the problems with snow build up and water entering my house. They where lower in price then most but the one thing that made me choose Solid State Construction was they where the only ones to suggest a rubber roof in the back part of my house. After the job was done we noticed water leaking on the ceiling in my daughter’s room. We called Solid State Construction and they were at the house with in the hour on a holiday weekend. They went into my attack and found that the water was not from the roof but my central air conditioning. This year, with the snow we have had, none of it has stayed on the roof it slides right off. We had Solid State Construction install new James Hardie siding, new Simonton windows, and a new entry door and storm door. This was our first large home improvement project ever, and the entire process was relatively painless. The initial estimate was very straightforward, and they were happy to visit multiple times to get all the details nailed down. Their final price was competitive based on the two other estimates we got, and we were comfortable going forward with them based on the work they did on another house nearby. Solid State was also very responsive with requests for changes, even after the project started (storm door, crossbeam, etc.). The project started during the expected time-frame, and they completed it much quicker than originally thought. During the installation, their crew was extremely friendly and were very open to accommodating our toddlers nap-time schedule when needing to be inside the house for window installation. They did a great job addressing all our questions and at the end of the day, we only had a few minor issues that had to be taken care of, which they handled promptly. They also did some things that they didn't have to do such as install new front lights that we didn't get delivered in time for their electrician to install when he was there. The only leftover things that we could possibly complain about was just that one of our front door railings was broken off its brackets during the demolition, but it was understandable since it was already loose...but it would have been nice if they had a welder on staff to fix it in case it was actually something that we had a problem with. The other minor issue in the end was a thorough cleanup, but in retrospect, I think they did a pretty good job cleanup considering the scope of the project. All in all, we are extremely happy with the final results and would recommend them with no reservations. If we ever decide to replace our deck or get new roofing, we would not hesitate to contact them again.

.Outstanding professional work and attention to detail. Delivered on time and completed to my satisfaction and specifications with the contractor's recommendations. Delivered on time and at reasonable cost. This contractor delivers a great product and cleans up, removing all waste material produced on site from the roof installation to the satisfaction of the customer. I am so impressed, I am negotiating a second roof installation and light carpentry in my Mount Kisco, NY facility.

Solid State did an awesome job with our James Hardie siding project. They were on-time, on budget, and always responsive to our needs. The quality of the workmanship was excellent and any defects that we noticed were immediately addressed. Jeff Brooks runs a great company. Not only was he competitively priced, but he delivered what was promised when it was promised. We live in an old house and a lot of care needed to be taken. His foreman, project manager Chris, and Jeff himself were always responsive to emails, phone calls, and texts. I wouldn’t hesitate to use Solid State again and we are considering them for a future deck project.

They were on time and finished ahead of schedule. The crew was very efficient. The roof itself was done very well. The replacement of our rain diverter, not so much. It is a minor complaint since they were significantly less than the competitors.

The job was done in the winter and was very well managed to take advantage of weather issues that came up. Chris, our Project Manager was outstanding in his attention to the work being done on a regular basis and promptly attending to any questions or issues we had. It is difficult to find firms that do quality work and concentrate on good customer service. Solid State is great at their work and at working with the customer with any concerns or questions. If you are looking for someone to install siding or do decking work this is the company you should put on your list as the first to call.

We recently used Solid State Construction to side a new addition on the back of our house. We initially met with Greg who was very friendly and knowledgeable. Our follow up appointment was with Jeff who worked with us and stayed within our budget. The work crew took 5 days to complete the addition and back of our house. The workmanship was very good, however, I had them return and clean up the siding. Chris was the manager who oversaw the project and he checked on the progress several times during the week. He was very accommodating and had the crew return to clean up the yard and wipe down the new siding. My husband and I are very picky when it comes to our home and we were very happy with the outcome. We hope to complete the rest of the house within the next year and intend to hire Solid State. We used Hardie in Deep Ocean and love the color!

From the beginning of our experience with Solid State, there were aspects we really liked and some things that were frustrating, and that stayed true throughout our entire experience. The Good: -Jeff, the owner, was really responsive when we'd had a bad experience with the initial sales rep who came out, and he personally came out to work with us on a revised bid. He asked really thoughtful questions about what had gone wrong, and seemed genuine about wanting to hear our feedback so that he could make fixes. He also replied to my call when issues arose during install, and was again, very receptive/helpful. -Their revised bids were in-line with if not slightly below other bids we received from competitors on both the roof and the siding (the original bids were much higher, but the revised ones were within a thousand or so of others we'd gotten). -William, the project manager, was very nice and professional when we did have problems during the install (more below on that). -So far, the roofing and rake board look good, and did well about a week after install with a heavy snowstorm. The Not So Good: -As mentioned, we had a rough start with Solid State, with a sales rep who came back for a second visit without formal proposals as we'd discussed at our first meeting, and very high, non-detailed rates. A separate rep followed up after we declined to move forward, to schedule a follow-up with Jeff, the owner, and we were frustrated when we called to confirm the day before only to find out the rep hadn't realized Jeff would be on vacation. Eventually, we did get to meet with Jeff, and moved forward with the roofing as noted above. -One of the things we were really explicit about with Jeff was that we wanted to ensure the yard/property were cleaned up after the job, as we have a dog and a toddler, and we use our lawn a lot. We were really disappointed that we had to ask multiple times for the yard to be cleaned up more after the job, and we are still finding nails and staples around the lawn weeks later. We also realized after the final walkthrough that there was a powdery residue left across our back lawn from the team cutting the PVC rake-board for install, which we are very disappointed by. One of the reasons we chose to go with Solid State is because of Jeff's assurances that the site would be spotless after, so this was probably our biggest disappointment. -There was a lot of confusion/lack of communication around aspects of the install process. William had called me to tell me they were going to be delayed by a day due to rain, stating that they never start roofing jobs in the rain. That was fine, but the crew showed up two days later to begin work, when it was still raining. I asked them to hold off until I talked to William (who wasn't onsite yet), and after about an hour when I was able to reach William on the phone, he said they shouldn't have been there until after the rain. We also had issues with communication around the end of the job, as I'd been assured the project would be done in 2 days. I was traveling that second day, and my husband returned home to find that the job hadn't been completed. Again, we had to reach out to get the update that they would need to finish work on a third day. I also had to request scheduling of a final walkthrough with William to ensure everything was completed to our satisfaction. William was very professional and helpful whenever I reached out, but I do wish things were more proactively communicated throughout the process. -Our gutters were removed/reinstalled as part of the process, and the gutter guards were haphazardly reinstalled. William quickly had the crew fix this after the final walkthrough. All in all, our roof looks good, and we are hoping that it continues to perform well for years to come.

"Thank you for writing that thoughtful and insightful review. As you mentioned my partner, Erika, and I are always very interested in ways we can improve our customer experience. Based on your feedback throughout the process we added an emphasis in our project manager training on communication. As previously discussed William was a recently promoted project manager, and while he had been with us for a long time this was his first project management role. We certainly apologize for this shortcoming in our training process but are greatful for the opportunity to improve. Based on your review we also have decided to add a "what to expect" letter to be given to a customer during the sales process. I am usually very careful about not overprimising regarding things like clean up. Our guys do an excellent job with clean up, employing techniques like tarping the home during demolition and using a magnetic sweep at the end of the job. While we do the best job possible it's never possible to get all the nails. Again thanks for the insights- they are very helpful. We are glad you like the finished product. By now you should have received your Golden Pledge warranty from GAF, so you have the largest manufacturer of shingles in the US standing behind both their products and our work."

It was done with incredible speed in a block of nice weather in the winter! Every phone call was answered or immediately returned. The property was left spotless, like, cleaner than it was before the work. And the company dealt professionally and at their own expense with an unfortunate underestimate of the size of the job by a salesman who has since left the company. Overall, Solid State made this project very easy for us and I have confidence the job is well done.

This company was very prompt and professional, and did a great job. First they worked with me to size the project to fit in my budget. Once the contract was signed, the project progressed quickly. The old siding was removed the first day, and I was able to inspect the plywood. Only once I was satisfied that everything was sound did they proceed covering with house wrap, but they had that done by the end of the first day too. The siding and trim was installed carefully, and turned out great. The project manager was easily reachable and responded to any questions immediately. The work crew was polite and professional, and worked long days to get the project done quickly. I am very happy with the result.

The foreman, Darlan, showed up the night before to drop off equipment that would be needed for the job.  The equipment was neatly stacked, roped off in my backyard and out of the way.  A dumpster and porta-potty were brought on site.  On the first morning a crew came and stripped off all the old cedar shingles on the South side of my home.  The project manager, Chris, came several times each day during the installation to check and approve the project.  He was always available for any questions/concerns I might have.  The foreman was always on the job site and was very helpful.

All the nails were hammered into the underlayment after it was checked for integrity.  They would have been able to repair any structural problems if found prior to starting the siding, but I had none.  It was important that they suggested I remove glassware, etc. from the kitchen cabinets on the other side of the wall, since there was quite a bit of noisy hammering.  Nice pro-active suggestion!  My air conditioning condenser was covered to protect it.  The house was then wrapped with a James Hardie house wrap.  The crew cleaned up completely each night before leaving.  It took approximately 4 days for the entire installation of the James Hardie shingle paneling since they staggered the shingle panels for a very natural look. This side of my house has many penetrations for electrical, air conditioning, water meter, telephone, and radon.  Where each penetration entered the house, they used James Hardie PVC blocking in white.  They had an electrician come and reattach my electrical service, plus ensure that all the other services were correctly attached and caulked.  Caulking was applied in matching color where the product met the PVC trim and all blocking had proper flashing.

During the installation a representative from James Hardie came by to insure that the product was being installed according to their specs. This product looks fabulous and the color match to the rest of my house is so close there is no need for me to have the side painted.  At the end of the project, the crew cleaned the site thoroughly, including all the nails.  I would definitely use Solid State for additional siding if needed in the future.

I wsh all contractors I hired were as good as Jeff Bridges and his crew.  Jeff paid attention to my concerns, explained what I was actually buying when I contracted to have a new roof installed.  He hit all targets; with pricing, with timing, his crew was professional, quiet, and fast!.Jeff and his crew started this job @ 8:30 on a Friday morning and were finished the next day by 4PM  They also were very considerate of one of my major concerns, which was keeping the work area clean when they were done for the day because of the dog.  There was never a scrap or a nail or tack left behind!

I asked for proposals from 10 contractors.  Three ignored the request.  Four chose not to submit a proposal after our discussions  (not comfortable with my requirement  for exterior insulation or a "cold roof").  Three contractors submitted  satisfactory proposals.  I was initially impressed by Solid State Construction's friendly professionalism,  their acceptance of my "Metal Roof Requirements for estimators" (which I would highly recommend for contracting) and, of course, their reasonable pricing.

The contract was signed in June 2015 and construction started in November (delayed at my request and then by the material suppliers).  Material problems continued with late, short and incorrect shipments which Jeff Brooks and his Solid State Construction handled with efficiency and effectiveness.  I had a change order after construction had started which they, again, handled with minimum disruption.

The Company management and their employees are professionals who took pride in accomplishing this complex project and in the beautiful end product.  They conducted themselves with courtesy and consideration, which we most appreciated as we were dealing with an illness in our family during construction.

I am very proud of the end product and am enjoying the beauty, security and comfort provided by this roofing project.  Ice dams, heat loss and roof repairs are a thing of the past.  I would (and have), without reservation, recommend Jeff Brooks and Solid State Construction.

Jeff and his team came out to provide an estimate, and go over all of the details and options with us, within a very short period of time from our inquiry.  Based on last year's awful winter, we knew we needed to make a change to our aging roof, and we wanted to go with Metal.  We had a very good overview of what would be needed, and what pitfalls might be in our way once the shingles were removed.  Thankfully there was no damage to the plywood on the roof, once everything was removed, prior to installation of the new metal roof.  The team was attentive and very skilled.  They were able to make pretty quick work of the job, even though we had a bunch of rainy days in between start and finish (metal roof and rain is the equivalent on being on an icy roof).
Overall we were very satisfied with the job, the timing and the price.  I would definitely recommend Solid State Construction to friends/family in the area in need of roof repair or replacement.
