"The member hired us to paint his house not repair damages. As the project progressed we encountered some damage boards. We replaced these boards at no cost. He had instructed us to do a cheep job because he was selling the house. We live in the same town so we did our best to keep the price as low as possible and perform a quality job. The following season we where called for touch ups. We give a 2 year guarantee on all our paint jobs and where happy to go back and touch up. They where having a showing shortly after his call and we dropped everything to get it done in time. My understanding from the local brokers is that there was a agreement to purchase. After a professional home inspection they found further damage to some boards. I had mentioned to him that this house over the winter had ice dams. This is when water gets behind the walls of the house and finds its way out through the paint and wood. All of the peeling paint had water bubbles. The damage wood was also located in the same areas as the water damage from ice dams. He would not hear of it. This is something that should be listed in the seller disclosed statement. Something I don't think he wanted to do. Once you have ice dams you need to replace all the wood. The wood will never dry out and will continue to brake down from behind the boards. We where hired to paint so we guarantee all paint problems even if it was caused from ice dams. We where not hired or paid for wood repairs so we do not guarantee wood repairs. I told him I would be happy to stop back and give him a very reasonable price to repair damages. He then asked for my attorneys name. Threatening your contractor that had treated you fairly and with a more than reasonable price is not right. He has also submitted a complaint to the bbb which we are responding to in a similar fashion. I would like nothing more to go back and help him with his needs, but a small fee to justify wood costs and labor is necessary. I don't think it is fair for any customer to tarnish a companies reputation that has done nothing but service him and everyone in this community to the best of our ability. We have been in business 28 years and have never had a complaint! If you where me would you go back and perform this work for nothing?"
