Fox Kitchens

Highly recommended one of his installers to remodel the kitchen.  The remodeler was a total rip-off, walked off the job, took our money.  The cost was the cost of remodeling.

In summary: not as planned.
the cabinets arrived and when placed along the walls for installation it was very apparent that they did not fit into the space they had been designed for.  We discovered that Fox had made errors in their calculations. 
The errors distrupted the entire design, as a design works together as a whole.  The problem could not be resolved by Fox in any way that could have maintained their original design.  Furthermore, Fox was unwilling to consider corrective actions other than simply replacing one cabinet with a smaller one to compensate for their measurement error. 
To make the entire matter even worse, when we could not reach a resolution Fox got very angry very fast and took the legal route and now are in our third year of prolonged litigation.

The design was perfect, dealing with all the issues I had with my old kitchen.  The quality of the cabinetry was excellent.  The representative was always available for us and was personable and easy to work with.  The contractor was on time and on budget and the quality of the work was excellent.  The people working here were considerate during the work.   I would recommend them and would certainly use them again.

Joan at Fox Kitchens designed new cabinets for our 1925 house which blended with the existing style of the house while providing us with much more storage and a more efficient layout. She took care to design the cabinet trim to compliment the existing trim of the house. She had to work around several awkward features of the kitchen, but managed to work everything that we wanted into the design, while keeping the cost reasonable. We are very happy with the result.

There were quite a few mistakes in the ordering of the cabinet measurements. We were told this was our fault. There was a time when we were discussing how we wanted our island to be and I asked if she needed to write down the measurements and she said no. Of course, our island came much too long which caused a host of other problems. There was also an extra cabinet, we're not sure where she was going to put it. She claims it was because we waited too long to give her the microwave measurements. We ended up paying for it and it's sitting in our garage. Also, when our cabinets did arrive, we found out that they were not solid wood as we had been led to believe. They also came with holes already drilled in the center of each one for knobs. We had discussed doing some with knobs and some pulls. I had liked a set-up that they had in the store like that. I had assumed that my installer would drill the holes as needed later, so I didn't decide then which would be pulls and which would be knobs. Of course they all came with single holes for knobs. Some cupboard fronts and doors had to get remade so we could put the pulls on them. We foolishly thought that we could still maintain a business relationship with her at this point and decided to buy the knobs and pulls from them. When we had discussed them earlier, she had given me a rough estimate that each knob was between $3 and $4 and gave me the exact prices for the pulls, according to size. When I ordered them she then charged me about $12 for each knob, which I wanted 20. I was incensed as I had seen the same exact ones at the hardware store for about $2. When I called about this, I talked with someone else who I'm sure realized the overcharge and why I was irate about it and gave us the knobs for free. That was the only right thing done during this whole job. I wish I had just got them at the hardware store rather than having to go through that. There also wasn't real accounting for our payments. We gave a required $300 deposit before she would come out to take the initial measurements. However, when we got a final bill, there was no account of that deposit. When I reminded her of it, she did take it off the bill. She told me that she had no record of it, but would just have to "take my word for it." I think that was just a rude thing to say to cover up your own mistake, instead of "I'm sorry." Overall, it was a total nightmare and I really would not recommend this place to anyone. This company has since moved out of my town and I'm glad. They are now next to an adult toy store in a little mini-mall which better suits their quality of work and their professionalism.

Overall not impressed with customer service and outcome. Worked directly with owner on our kitchen renovation and he didn't write anything down, which we were concerned with, but tried to trust his methods; however, when it came down to install, we were missing a cabinet and all the hardware was incorrect which led to wrong holes drilled into our cabinets!!! When owner was notified of error, didn't attempt to contact us and apologize, called him and took several days for him to call us back. Overall, for the price, you would expect better.
