We ended up going with another company because my wife liked the style of one specific door that he did not carry. I wish he could have. Will post our experience with the other company after he installs.
The bid from Overhead Door from Danvers was $3,300 so we immediately ruled them out. The bids from Karmin and Saugus Overhead Door were within $50 of each other, and we decided to go with Saugus Overhead Door.
The installer was very good in terms of arriving and completing on time, and cleaning up. My wife and I couldn't be happier with the look of the new doors and the quiet openers.
In January 2013, I lost possession of a triple remote. They sold me a new remote and supposedly disabled the old one for both garage doors. When I regained possession of it, I found that the remote still opened one garage door! (I could have been easily burglarized should the person who had the opener and knew where I lived, been so inclined.) So I went by personally to see Sal. He refused to give me a refund, promising to come out and reprogram it to work on both doors, and install a wireless remote. It's been over a year, but they never would do any of this.
Two weeks ago the door broke again and they did not return my calls.
Angie's List connected me with a GREAT garage door company. See my review of Trinity.
"In response to [member name removed], We are sorry to hear your dissatisfaction with this matter, and would like to regain you as our customer. Looking at your invoice on file, January 17, 2013, we installed and charged you for a new remote because you couldn't find yours. We wiped out the existing code and programmed the new remote to the door you were using. Only had 1 button remotes in stock at the time, so it was programmed into your door you were frequently using. How are we dangerously unprofessional? If something was done dangerously please advise me, as we do not tolerate unprofessionalism. Our technicians are certified and courteous to every customer. Saugus Overhead Door has been in business for almost two decades servicing many satisfied customers. You have used us many times in the past to your satisfaction, how is it that our costs were very high? We are competitive with all our parts and service. It's been over a year and 2 months since our last service call, and as of today 3-20-14 I'm just hearing about this. What number have you been calling? Was it direct with our office? Returned calls to a technicians cell phone can sometimes be lost. I do not advise calling and leaving a voice mail on a technicians cell phone, as they are not monitored. All office calls will generate a ticket by our secretary, and are responded to within a two hour window. Opened and used products are non returnable, a credit is issued on the invoice for a future visit. We both verbally agreed that I would come out and reprogram both doors and install a free Keypad, a $69.00 value. I do honor my word, and apologize for this inconvenience. Please let us know if you still would like us to come out and honor our agreement. Regards, Saugus Overhead Door LLC 781-231-7300"
