Richards Appliance was established in 1979 we have grown over the years from a basic appliance service company to a major appliance dealer we have a showroom stocked with all your major appliance brands serving the north shore of Massachusetts, Merrimack Valley and Southern NH. As a factory store we purchase directly form appliance manufactures which allows us to cut out the middle man and pass the savings on to our customers. If an appliance or part is not in our local warehouse we can have the order completed within a day or two from the manufacturer

The oven was installed in 2005, but not used very much due to this being a second home.  The repair technician took the front panel off and checked some fuses and diagnosed the problem as being that the P/C board and relay board were blown and needed to be replaced.  He said it would cost approximately 500 dollars to replace those parts and it may not be worth it even though to replace the unit with a similar model would be approximately 1200 dollars, which is what the unit cost new.  I agreed with him and purchased a new unit from a State Street Discount and they gave me the name on an installer they use (Matt at Euro Appliance).  He came to install the new unit and asked if I mind if he check the TCO (overheat sensor) on the broken unit and sure enough that was all that was wrong with the appliance.  He replace the 20 dollar part and I was able to return the new unit to State Street for a refund.  I called Richard's Appliance to provide feedback to them directly and they took the information but were not willing to issue a refund for the service call.  I would use Euro Appliance again in a heartbeat but not Richard's.

UPDATE:  I received a check in the mail refunding the amount of the service call in addition to the cost of the part that needed to be replaced.  It's good to see a company that will admit their mistake and go above and beyond in making up for them.

Technician tested the sensor and control panel board and determined the fault was in the panel board.  The Panel board replacement would be $650 and with the oven being 12 years old, it was deemed not worth the repair.  Technician did not push sale of new oven (Richard's also sells appliances - and we have purchased several from them).  Would use for service and sales in the future.

The repair went fine. The technician only spent a few minutes figuring out what the problem was. He replaced circuit board no problem but the pricing was pretty steep. A $205 circuit board (found online) replaced for $350... $145 for 15 minutes of labor? At an advertised $89.99/hr thats almost 2 hrs paid for.  Happy that its fixed but feel a little but still feel swindled.

The dishwasher kept shutting down before finishing its cycle and not draining properly  - Steve discovered that the cause was actually the ill fitted garbage disposal my husband had installed a few weeks earlier. 
Steve was great, fast, and kindly reserved judgement on my husband, addressed the hose that was supposed to connect the dishwasher and disposal, and fixed the problem quickly.
He was also gracious, friendly and equally effectual when the electrician arrived  - they had to work around each other in the kitchen - I am the type that will ttend to 'make do" with the problems then I hit a wall and must get them ALL fixed at ONCE - these guys were great (Steve @ Richard's & Dan Eaton Eaton Electric Electric) . 
Never expect service people to arrive EXACTLY when they say, but BOTH of them did. We have really great repair service people around the area, professional, fair, very quick and prompt especially in a dire situation. We feel blessed!

We have Fisher Pakel dishwasher. Two drawers. Top draw failed. Was diagnosed and repaired (after waiting for part) successfully. Second drawer failed shortly after that. Different repairman came. Diagnosed problem. Had to order part. Did leave it so that we could use top drawer for washing. Part for lower drawer arrived. Different repairman again. Said problem was not what second repairman diagnosed, but was able to repair without having to order part.

I called Richard's Appliance to service my refrigerator,which had been running almost constantly and recently had frozen everything. I called on a Thursday and asked if someone could come the following day. The person with whom I spoke was very helpful and said someone would be there between 8 and noon. Steve arrived at 8:45, looked at the refrigerator, and said the control was stuck on. He fixed the problem within 20 minutes. I was extremely pleased with this experience. Steve was pleasant and we had an enjoyable conversation while he replaced the control. Thank you, Richards Appliance!

fri richards was third on the list i recieved and was the third i called.  the first was n/a and no voice mail, the second was voicemail and i left a message, richards repair actually was a live person.  I was given a time for the next day and he was prompt,polite and the price was right.  When i first attmepted to go through Barron's Appliance Center in Plaistow (this is where i purchased the firdge,I explained to the salesman I wanted to inquire about a repair, explaining I can not afford a new fridge at the current time.the salesman laughed and told me i had an old fridge (almost 6 years old) and it was not worth getting it fixed and I would have to pay
a couple of hundred dollars for them to come out and tell me I need a new fridge.  Angry at being spoken down to, I left the store and went on Angie's list.  Best repair experience I have had.  Hats off to Richard's of Salsbury.

It took them an hour to do the work and I did have to pay, but hey did not charge me extra for leaving to get the new part. The guy who you talk to behind the counter is also the guy who runs the company. What we have used from them has worked great, and they call back once you call. 50% of the time you get somebody live. I would continue to use them if the work was needed.

Scheduled to arrive between noon and 4PM, technician arrived about 2 PM. Diagnosed the problem as a failed timer that controlled the defrost cycle. He showed me the burned out contact points on the timer and estimated the cost to repair. Once approved, he manually defrosted the unit and installed a new timer. Professional and pleasant.
