Malone Fence Company

I met with Mr. Malone and explained what I wanted. Although he is a man of few words, he understood what I wanted, and was able to show me some examples of what his company could build that would fit with what I was describing. We decided on a date and style of fence and I paid the deposit.  I explained that I might be getting a dog, and that was why I wanted a new fence. His start date didn't work out because of the rainy month.  However, when his people came, they finished the gate quickly in 2-3 days. The fence looks good, but some of the wood on the top of the fence is a little thinner than I was expecting and there is a slight gap where the fence meets the neighbor's fence. When they were finished, I thought they would bill me for the work. However, Mr. Malone called and came to my house to get the check. A week or two after that, I received a bill from a related company, Boston Fence Company, asking for the same payment again. I called and told them that I had paid Mr. Malone. 
The fence looks great now that it is painted white! 

The day of the estimate, he arrived on time, however his attitude left little to be desired.  This was a small job of a 4 foot gate between the house and the neighbors fence.  We used Malone Fence Co. to install the wooden gate and 2 feet of fence beside it.  The workers did not cement the post into the ground, they attached one side to the neighbors fence with strapping.  The second post was out of "plumb" 1 1/4 inches on a 4 foot height.  The third post was not even buried in the ground, he screwed it to my deck post.  There was a gap between the gate and the post it abutted.  We called asking for this to be repaired, and have been advised he will come back to put a piece of wood over the gap to hide it... That was a month ago, and we are still waiting.  I will never use or recommend this company to anyone.  If you want Micky Mouse construction, call them.. Otherwise BEWARE.

On 9/12/2011 I left a voice message with Malone Fence to schedule an appointment to receive an estimate for a new fence.  On 9/14 I left another message since there was no response to the original call.  On 9/16 at 9:30 am I received a call from Dick regarding my request for an estimate.  He stated he would be at my house at 11:00.  Thankfully I was at home and not busy since he arrived at 10:30 even though we had just spoken that morning.

The estimate he provided was 25% higher overall compared to 2 other estimates that I had already received.  He was high in both the cost for material and labor.  The estimate process was very rushed.  He gave the impression that he wasn't really interested in providing the estimate or doing this fence.

Based upon the extremely high estimate and attitude I decided to go with another company.

Based on this experience I would not contact this company in the future for and estimate or recommend them to anyone.
