About us
We're a small family owned electric contractor based on the North Shore of Boston. JOLT stands for myself, John, my dog, Oliver, my wife, Lisa and our son, Trevor. I personally have over 30 years experience in the electrical field and would love to show you what customer service is really like. We answer the phone when you call, let you know if we're running 15 minutes late and are clean, articulate and polite. Oh yeah, and we do electrical work pretty well too. John and his team checked every box that contractors are, stereotypically, NOT expected to check: they were on time, on budget, friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. Steve, the project lead, took the time to explain any concerns he had along the way in a clear and concise manner. Their pricing was fair, and expectations clear. I cannot say enough good things about these guys. Would recommend and will absolutely hire again for any future work.

Jolt just installed a large light fixture at my mom's house. It was a floor model and the retailer did not include the correct parts for it to be installed properly. Keith spent quite a bit of time trying to make it work, but couldn't, so he cut and widened the canopy so he could do the install. The light is up and mom (95 years old) is thrilled. Keith was really awesome throughout the whole process - extremely polite and professional and he went above and beyond to get that darn thing up. I highly recommend Jolt!

Dear John, I am writing to let you know that I am very impressed with your workers and your company. The light fixture that was installed in our bathroom shower is perfect and they even managed to keep the tiles intact without cracking. We have used Jolt several times before and been extremely satisfied. When it came time for this pretty big job or replacing all the old knob and tube wiring in an old house, we knew exactly who to call. John got right back to us with an estimate and was able to get us on the schedule pretty quickly! He sent out two guys who said they would arrive at 7:00am, and they knocked on the door right at that time, prompt and professional. Steve (the lead on this job) went through the expectations with me and my wife to make sure we were all on the same page as to what would be done, and were very upfront about potential power shut off and loss of Wi-Fi (a consideration with two kids doing remote schooling). Steve made sure to let us know when the power would be off to make sure the kids were in a spot where they wouldn't be disconnected at a bad time. He also was very forthcoming with things he found as he went through the job, both things that weren't as bad as expected (resulting in a credit to the estimate) or things they found that weren't expected (resulting in add-ons to the bill). Having used Jolt for multiple jobs before (small repairs, bigger jobs, grounding a new pool) I knew that John and his crew do great work, make sure they adhere to code, and are extremely fair with their clients. We could not have asked for a better experience with this job, they did great work! Having an electrician you can trust is worth its weight in gold, and we are very fortunate to have that with John and his crew at Jolt!

These guys are the best. Steve arrived at the stroke of the scheduled time. He was solicitous about what we wanted and calculated the exact needs for current by reading the information about the 3 new appliances. He used a level so the wall switch plate would look neat and even cleaned up after himself. The boss John came out with his truck to bring us a part we needed so there was no delay in the job. I couldn't recommend them more highly.

John from Jolt and his crew were professionals from start to finish. John did a very thorough assessment and estimate, his crew started and finished when they said they would, communication was excellent throughout, and changes to the scope of work were well documented. His crew members Steve and Gabriel were professionals in every way and a pleasure to work with. John Stavaridis and his team at Jolt Electric are superior to any electrician I or my uncle (a general contractor) have vetted. My uncle has been in the home improvement industry for more than 30 years, and he’s never seen a more tidy, efficient and impressive electric contracting business. Everything about our experience with John and Jolt Electric was fantastic. From the initial evaluation and pre-project scope of work through to the job execution and billing, Jolt Electric surpassed our expectations, impressed us with professionalism and overwhelmed us with value. Also worth noting, it says on Jolt’s website -- Please feel free to give us a call. We will actually answer the phone! -- and that couldn’t be more true. From the first time I called John, to the weeks leading up to us actually closing on our home, he answered the phone each time, and was careful and calculated in the counsel he provided. Our project was unique in that we had to remove knob and tube wiring in a mixed wiring home. The Jolt Electric team is well versed in all wiring, and we were extremely happy to learn how well John and his team are in removing knob and tube as a weatherization barrier to utilize the Mass Save program to insulate the home. We are now graduated through the Mass Save/ CLEAResult program thanks to Jolt Electric. Additionally worth noting, we found the lead electrician on our project Keith to be extremely knowledgeable, respectful and responsive. We trusted Keith and his helper to come and go from the home via a lockbox, and Keith would call with any minor snag he hit or question he wanted to clarify with us. Keith is the sort of consummate professional you want working on important work like the electrical in your home! Last, we found the scope of work pricing fair, and were happy to discover that our final bill -- albeit with several project additions (my wife and I couldn’t help ourselves) -- was nearly exact to what the original scope of work price was. I’ve also really grown to appreciate Jolt’s owner John Stavaridis as a person. He’s an honest man, a family guy and truly has been a pleasure to have in our home interacting with us, our dog and our young daughter (nearly 2 years old). You’re lucky you found Jolt Electric. You won’t regret calling John!

One of my 12 alarms went bleeping at about 11 a.m. at night. I called Joit at about 12:30 a.m. and ask they call me first thing in the morning. I got a call at 7 a.m. and they came that afternoon which was the day before Thanksgiving. All my smoke detectors were replaced with up to code hard-wired smoke detectors and an outlet replaced. The job was done professionally and John was very nice I'm very professional. I would hire it again. I did get a bit of sticker shock, but each of these smoke detectors on Amazon looks like it's about $40 so I don't believe it was outrageously overpriced. And I was truly grateful to find someone who came out the day before Thanksgiving.

Some of the material cost might be explained by the fact that some of the detectors we replaced were smoke/CO combo detectors, which go for around $65 or so each, as opposed to the regular smokes for $40. Overall, a terrific experience. Our (motion-activated) outdoor light malfunctioned and needed a replacement part. John (Jolt Electric) listened to our concerns and instead of simply replacing the original part, made recommendations to improve performance (i.e. re-location of sensor for optimal use). Once the part was replaced, John then tested the light to ensure it functioned properly and walked me through what he did.

Fantastic work!! John the owner almost always answers the phone himself, per his response "in case it's an emergency". If not, he otherwise responds promptly to phone or email. Timing for the job was also very responsive and flexible. He is so trusting and straightforward. There was no pressure or trying to push any unnecessary services. He gave excellent advice and options. He is extremely knowledgeable and very personable. His crew that came, Keith and Steve, were also very professional and attentive. The workmanship was excellent, and the price was very appropriate. They had to run wire from our service in the basement, drill through to outside of the house, run the wire in a trench in PVC pipe, drill into garage, add a service box in the garage, and then placed 4 LED strip lights in the garage, 3 outlets (one to be used for a future garage door opener), and placed an exterior spot light on the front of the garage. They also replaced an old malfunctioning spot light on back of house. Obviously, we are very satisfied. We would very highly recommend JOLT Electric without reservation. We will use them again when needed.

Wow/ John is very experienced and totally professional. He did all the thermostats and the switch work in about 2 hours, and explained how the ceiling light would need to be modified in order to be installed. John also told me about arc fault protection, which will need to be added with the new ceiling fixture. I feel like we have found our permanent electrician - someone who is easy to work with, very expert and really looking out for his customers. All this with a fair price!
