I called Jimmy when the car wouldn't start at 8:50 a.m., and he said he would be here shortly. He was here by 9:10 a.m. and my car was back in the driveway by 10:10 a.m. Where on earth can you get such service that your mechanic comes to your house??? He didn't leave a bill in the car so I stopped by his shop later and asked what the cost was and his response was " is $120 OK?" I'm no expert, but that battery probably cost close to that and I just can't put a price on the comfort of knowing Jimmy will be there if I need him.
This is the second review I've done on Jimmy and I am so thrilled to say that the service I received the first time was not a fluke - he is the best!!

New to the USA, I asked the owners of a local antique store if they could recommend a mechanic. Immediately, they both said "Go see Jimmy", and two customers in the store stopped what they were doing and chimed in that I should not even bother looking elsewhere, as Jimmy was the best and they had all been using him for years.
I told Jimmy that I knew my car would not pass inspection and that it needed a sensor, the winter tires removed, and a muffler repair. It was also probably time for an oil change. I mentioned that he came highly recommended and he was thrilled. I took the car over to him, we had a short meeting about the vehicle and he then drove me home. Jimmy is a wonderful, unassuming, salt-of-the-earth type of man.
If you are looking for a shiny dealer showroom, manicures for the ladies on Thursday's or complimentary coffee and paper, you are in the wrong place. I fully expected to see Gomer Pyle come out of the back of this place. The reception room has an old sofa and a seat from a minivan, the calendar on the wall is from 1958 and the driveway must be taken slowly due to potholes. This is a small, one-man operation in a small town.
I did tell him that I was not in a hurry for my vehicle and he kept in touch regularly. He said we didn't pass the first inspection (expected) and when the car was on the hoist he found a couple of other issues, which were minor. My husband and I ran the summer tires over one night and Jimmy put them on. He phoned to say that one tire did not pass the inspection (we knew it wouldn't) and put two new ones on ($85 each). Jimmy came to the house to pick me up and we went back to the shop, where he took me on a tour of my vehicle, explained every thing he had done, apologizing for the cost.
I have to tell you that I fully expected this service to be well over $1500, was praying it would be under $2000 and it came in at $1025. Plus, he did extra things, such as replace a muffler clamp, a license plate light bulb and he even polished my headlights. I don't know where else you could get this level of service.
Jimmy had my vehicle for over 2 weeks (I did say I wasn't in a hurry) and his total labor cost was only $335. This included Jimmy running the vehicle to a friend at Toyota for a computer reset, taking it for inspection twice and his own time.
When moving, there are several services that are a pain to replace - doctor, hairdresser, mechanic. We are absolutely thrilled to have found a reliable, honest mechanic. He could have changed the oil, but when I asked about it he said it was pretty clean and it wasn't time or mileage, according to the sticker for the last oil change. I love his honesty.
His prices are more than fair, his service is phenomenal and Jimmy himself is a wonderful man. It's a real pleasure to highly recommend Rowley Automotive. He has customers for life in us.

I called to schedule an appointment and was told I could drop off the car later that week. Jimmy changed the oil with the proper replacement oil ( we have had trouble elsewhere with them not using the correct oil). I'd asked him on the phone about checking into a side to side shake or shimmy that I'd been experiencing on the highway. After driving the car, he determined that the tires needed to be rotated due to wear. The car was ready early in the afternoon, and I picked it up, paid, and drove home. The shimmy is gone, and I'll definitely be using Jimmy at Rowley Automotive again!
