HGM INDUSTRIES INC

Our GC recommended Louis/HGM to us to complete a metal roof.  We told
him in July what we wanted.  It took him quite a while to get back to us
with samples, but everyone understood that he was to do the roof.  We
finally got the formal bid/contract on 8/3 and after chasing him for two
weeks, we agreed to a color and paid a deposit for materials.  He
stated that he would get to us in 2-3 weeks.    When we did not have a
start date by the beginning of September, we called him multiple times
with no response.  Yes we should have run then, but our GC told us he
was great and reliable and it would be fine.  We finally got a call that
he would drop materials off on 9/18 and start on 9/23.  He dropped off
materials but never started.  We called multiple times and left messages
that were never returned.  He finally texted us and stated that one of
his guys' wife died and he was very behind.  We told him we at least
needed him  to come on 9/28 to patch a leak so we didn't ruin the 100K
worth of renovations that were being completed.  We got a call the
morning of 9/28 stating that he would not be doing our roof.  He told us
he would drop off a check and pick up materials that afternoon.  We
told him that unless it was a certified check, he couldn't take the
materials.  He brought the certified check today.  We are now scrambling
to find a new roofer as everyone is booked.

He did the work, but it took a long time to complete. He took about three months to complete the job. He dumped the shingles on the front drive, left them there and did not come back. I had to call him to see what was going on. They came back and did the roof, but I had to ask him to do the gutters. The roof was completed, but the gutters were not. They had to come back to do the gutters. Then, the gutters were not put up properly, so they weren't draining properly. So I ended up having to call him three times to get him to come back to do the gutters right. We then had a leak in the back of the roof. He has never come back to fix it. I have called him, and called him, I've sent letters, but he has never come back. I've given up on him. I have even threatened to take him to small claims court. He still won t come back. On his contract it says, ten year guarantee on all workmanship done by HGM Industries". There is no guarantee. I would never use them again.
