See above, Adam was the Best. I had many maleware infections and proxy infections that Adam took off and showed me how to handle them in the future. Adam added programs to my computer that would keep these problems from happening. He is extremely knowledgeable and I would recommend him to everyone as the first person to call to fix their computer.
Thank you Adam and Thank you Angie's List,

It went well. I related the problems. He listened attentively. Then he went to work. I can now use my computer without the fear of being disconnected at a crucial moment. Also, I have 2 back-up systems to fall back on when my hard drive dies. (just like us they all WILL DIE!!!) With Adam you feel like you have a buddy out there. You are not just another customer relying on someone who has recently bought into a Geek franchise. 2 of this employees came to my office in the summer of 2010 to save a computer that crashed. Adam did not work on the problem yet when I called him a few days ago he knew exactly who I was and what my business is (Home Inspector) and my needs are. Pretty impressive.

Adam is a good guy and tries to do what you ask of him. I plan to use him again.  My only advice to anyone using his services is to have in mind exactly what you want him to accomplish ... and then leave the room.  He's a talker!  A good talker.  A very engaging talker.  A very amusing talker.  But you get billed for all the talk that is not at all focused on the task at hand.  That said, I got some very good information from him amidst all the conversation and he was game to help me with other electronics-related issues that were not computer centric.

I've used him before, but I was shopping around to see if there might be any other companies that were available just in case he wasn't. He's fast and affordable.

My dealings with Adam Frost and his associates, Alan and Patricia, were cordial and trust-based for about a year, at which point my old PC crashed and could not be rebooted. Adam recommended replacing it with a refurbished PC that he said he’d procure from “a trusted source,” as this would be “more affordable” for my budget. Having been unemployed with only freelance income for over a year, I agreed. Things then began to take a troubling turn. Alan brought over a PC model different from that specified in our prior communication about the transaction and not suited to my physical space. He said he had “nothing else” to give me and suggested that, if the machine wasn't acceptable, I could "check e-mail from the library"--an impossibility, given my need for almost constant online access--until such time as he might locate what he'd promised in the first place. Left with no viable option, I agreed to try the machine provisionally, whereupon he proceeded to put in seven hours of onsite labor. At 9 p.m., I asked Alan to leave, as I was worried about the amount of time being expended on issues that were still unresolved. The PC's malfunctioning only intensified in the days that followed. I contacted Adam and asked him pointblank how much time had been expended in total so far, both behind the scenes and onsite. He gave a figure in the neighborhood of 20 hours, at which I recoiled, telling him in no uncertain terms that this was way beyond my means yet I still had no reliable PC. Adam said he didn’t think it was worthwhile troubleshooting the PC further and strongly urged me to try a second refurbished machine, implying that the labor accrued so far (and my investment) could be at risk if I were to start over with a new machine, as I was proposing to do. He seemed eager to reassure me that he was committed to an outcome that would be both successful and “fair," even telling me that he would "void out" the 20 hours so that we could start anew. The second PC from Adam’s original source didn’t work any better than the first one. First, it had a nuisance issue: plugging/unplugging of a cable into a port was required for certain restarts. Adam called this an “unfixable quirk,” though another computer consultant, whom I called in for a second opinion, was able to correct it in five minutes. Still, other problems persisted, and new ones developed. Now faced with costs from both the outside consultant and Adam's time spent on the second refurbished PC, I e-mailed Adam, stating my wish to return the faulty PC and purchase a new machine. Rather than reply in writing, Adam engaged me in several long phone conversations, during which he reprimanded me for not being “collaborative” and criticized my personal communications style. He further advised that the PC was not his machine but rather mine, and that he’d merely “picked it up” at my instruction. He said he regretted my “bad luck” but that ultimately he expected to be compensated for his “hard, good-faith work” to try and make the PC reliable. Despite my repeated requests, Adam declined to provide an interim cost estimate, saying he preferred to wait until the project had concluded and ignoring my objections. Ultimately, Adam sent an invoice for more than $1,700, in which he failed to break down the cost components intelligibly. Instead of itemizing, e.g., for data transfer and troubleshooting, he provided a ten-page journal-like account of my “concerns,” interspersed with long lists of software programs. I told Adam that the amount was outlandish, especially as I still did not have a reliable PC. In response to my confusion as to how the 20 hours that he'd said he was voiding out earlier had somehow gotten reinserted, Adam stated that the cost of setting up the first (defective) PC had been "transferred" to the work for the second one. Around the time that I received the bill, the PC started crashing every few minutes. Unable to do my own work, and anxious to avoid adding to the already mindboggling total that Adam was charging me, I again enlisted another tech person. He troubleshot the PC remotely and said that he was shocked to find old Java programs, which posed a security risk, and other, incompatible programs, all of which Adam had neglected to remove from the PC before delivering it or while setting it up onsite. The outside consultant cleaned up the PC, whereupon its performance improved. After I conveyed my disappointment at the sloppy preparation of the PC to Adam, he threatened to sue me in order to collect the $1,700+ that he claimed I owed him and stated that he’d levy late fees as well. He said that if I'd sell him back the PC and include software that I'd purchased, he'd reduce my bill to $880. (My own offer, to pay him $635 to cover the cost of the used PC and the $500 cap that he had himself proposed earlier on condition that he get the PC to a level where it was reliable, was rejected.) I agreed to the $880 under duress, as I could not afford the legal assistance I felt I would need to fight him. I subsequently bought a brand-new computer, which another tech person set up in a fraction of the time that it had taken Adam and his associates, and for about a third of the cost.

I called up because I was having problems with two computers. Adam gave me several suggestions on the phone of how to proceed and I was able to fix one computer myself. The other one required additional assistance and they sent one of their team members to my home. I found her to be extremely helpful and efficient. The team was always looking for the most cost effective way to service your needs and focused on teaching you so that you could solve similar problems in the future. I found Adam and his team to provide the type of service that you rarely see nowadays, timely, thoughtful, caring and efficient. I would strongly recommend this group to anyone who needs help with their computer. Just a footnote on this company - when Patricia (on Adam's team) first arrived I needed some substantial assistance on a non-computer emergency that came up - they were extremely helpful and caring - and helped me solve that problem as well.

Good. Very professional. Very knowledgeable and professional. I thought the price was a bit high but in line with what other computer service companies were charging. Overall pleased with the service provided. Would use again.

Adam was wonderful. Responsive from the start he showed up when he said he would and could not have been nicer. He was helpful, even showing me how to do things my self (imagine that!). I am a small business owner and Adam suggested I use a reliable back up system which he helped to install. He was patient and polite. He even helped me over the phone with a few things which he never charged me for. I will never call anyone from a "squad" again.

Adam was quick to respond to my inquiry. He was extremely patient with this technophobe and explained everything without much resorting to technical terminology. Since his visit he has sent several followup emails and I have been able to contact him by email and phone with other questions.

Adam is great, very helpful, with an ecological perspective on assessing the problem with my computer and strategizing about a couple of possible solutions. We're still working through which solution will work, and he's happy to let me do some of the research work so as to keep my price down. He charges a reasonable hourly rate.

I HAVE WORKED WITH COMPUTERS FOR OVER 25 YEARS AND THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME I HAVE EVER MET ANYONE LIKE ADAM IN THIS BUSINESS! HE ARRIVED AT MY HOUSE 45 MINUTES AFTER I CALLED; HE HAD ME AT THE COMPUTER WHILE HE TOLD ME WHAT TO DO (WHICH IS A FAR BETTER LEARNING EXPERIENCE RATHER THAN WATCHING THE COMPUTER TECH'S FINGERS FLY OVER THE KEYBOARD AT LIGHTNING SPEED!). HE MADE SURE THAT I UNDERSTOOD EVERYTHING THAT HE DID, AND THE BEST OF ALL IS HE EXPLAINED EVERYTHING IN 'ENGLISH' INSTEAD OF 'COMPUTER-ESE'! IN ADDITION TO HIS COMPUTER KNOWLEDGE, HE IS A DELIGHT TO WORK WITH AND I FEEL THAT FOR THE FIRST TIME, I HAVE EXCEPTIONAL COMPUTER HELP WHEN I NEED IT. THAT IS PRICELESS!

I APPRECIATE ADAM'S ATTENTION TO REUSING OLD COMPUTER EQUIPMENT RATHER THAN SENDING IT TO A LANDFILL. HE'S ALWAYS BEEN HELPFUL TO ME IN DONATING OLD EQUIPMENT TO NONPROFITS IN NEED. HE IS PERSONABLE, CLEAR, HELPFUL AND RESPONSIVE BY PHONE.
