Steve Dessert - The Heating Man

Steve installed a new modern oil tank for me at a more than reasonable price. Steve’s work was clean and neat and everything is working excellent. Steve also does annual burner cleanings, and takes his time to ensure everything is operating smooth. I highly recommend Steve for all of your heating repairs.

Steve was great. He was on time, very friendly and knowledgeable. He had no problem answering my many questions. They took care of everything, including the inspection. I would definitely recommend him to my friends.

When we purchased our house we knew it had an older gas boiler and water heater. We had talked to a bunch of plumbers. Most of them wanted us to get rid of our older boiler and purchase a very expensive high efficiently boiler. Finally a coworker recommended Steve Dessert. We made an appointment for him to come check out our systems. He showed up on the day scheduled and right on time. He checked out our boiler and said it is a quality cast iron boiler that should last for quite a while more. He did recommend that we replace the 12 year old water heater with an indirect water heater. He went out to his truck and printed us a quote on the spot. His price was better than reasonable. We accepted the quote but said we wanted to wait a few months to do it. He said no problem. Once he again he showed up right on time to do the install. He had everything loaded in his truck and ready to go. He completed the install of the water heater and installed a multi zone controller for the boiler. He also did the wiring for the boiler and water heater controls. Everything was done very professionally. He is very particular about not only that everything works correctly but it looks good also. Most people probably do not care what some piping looks like to their boiler and water heater. It is important to me because it shows that he takes pride in his work. One thing to know about Steve is he is a heating expert. He is very knowledgeable about the heating systems. It is what he does everyday unlike most plumbers. He is a one man shop so you deal directly with him throughout the entire process. This is not guy looking to make as much as possible from a job. He does not try to up sell something that you don't need. Because he does a lot of service work. His installs are designed for easier/quicker future service. I would very highly recommend Steve Dessert The Heating Man to family and friends.

Steve arrived on time and finished in the job in one day. Everything from the old boiler was taken away. He is very easy to deal with.

Steve was great. We have a obsolete, complicated heating system with multiple zones. We have had this system worked on multiple times and no one has been able to repair it properly. Steve came out and sized up the situation and was honest with us by telling us he would have to do some research. It was the height of the miserable month of February and I am sure he was very busy.  He got back to us in a timely manner and told us exactly what needed to be done and he had a quote ready. We told him to go ahead order the parts. He came and installed the new parts, it took more time than he had quoted but he stuck to his quote . It has been about three weeks now and everything is working exactly like it should. It is such a relief to have the system functioning properly and at such a fair price. I would and will recommend Steve to family and friends.

Steve was very punctual and professional. We had been having an ongoing problem with the heating system and had very bad experiences with other companies who apparently did not have the expertise to work on hot air systems. Steve explained what he was doing and why he was doing it at every step in the process. He was very conscientious and thorough in his work, very personable in his demeanor, and very reasonable in his costs. He answers his own phone. He has advised us that he is available 24/7 for emergencies and that he also is willing to do our routine seasonal maintenance. It is a great relief to finally have a reliable and knowledgeable person to call. I wish we had found him sooner!

It was just Steve himself but he was very good. He was right on time and he called me back. Everything went well. The work he did was perfect. I'm going to have him do my hot water heater soon.

Steve is a pro. He knows his business and understands customer service.... both elusive qualities in today's service industry. A great find.

I contacted Steve when my regular heating man could not come for a few weeks. He was right on time. He cleaned my furnace, replaced a couple of things, and then showed me what to do if the furnace shuts off. I now have a new furnace cleaner / repair person.

He put in a an instant-on water heater. Great work at a great price and a nice guy. Great job with the removal of the old heater and clean-up, too.

Steve arrived on time, and evaluated my oil burner and ancillary systems to determine my requirements to convert to gas heat. He explained that my current unit would not be a candidate for a conversion. He outlined the gas furnaces that would provide the best performance for my house, and the rebates available for them. Once I receive a review of my energy needs by the designated reviewer, I will be eligible for a 0% financing on a new system and we'll select the best system based on that.

I wanted to replace my old inefficient oil heat system with a new gas fired heating system and asked around for a good recommendation. I was given Steve Dessert of The Heating Man as a referral. I contacted Steve and from day one he was ultra professional.
We set up the appointment for him to view the job requirements at my home and he got right back to me within a few days with the quote, which was very reasonable. Steve is very knowledgeable in his field and was also a great help with the Energy Rebate Forms I needed to fill out. Steve is also very technology savvy and has computerized his work vehicle so he is able to produce his business forms on the spot.
I felt very comfortable with my decision to hire him for the job. He always arrived at the time he said he would and his work Is excellent and passed all inspections immediately. Another plus by hiring Steve is he is also able to service your heating system, gas or oil. I highly recommend Steve Dessert of the Heating Man. I just recommended him to my sister to convert her heat system from oil to gas and she hired him immediately after meeting him, as she too, is very impressed with him.

We've used Steve's services several times, so when it was time to replace our aged furnace, it was a no-brainer -- we called Steve.
Our first experience with Steve was an emergency call. We had just had our oil furnace cleaned by a company we had not used before (I'll review them separately), and unfortunately, the furnace failed that Friday evening. A call to the folks that did the cleaning told us that they wouldn't be coming back until the following Monday. Not acceptable, given that it was the middle of a cold winter, and we were caregivers for a 90-year old relative living with us. We called Steve, who came to the rescue that evening, and stayed until 10 pm to get things running. He returned the following day to correct the mess that was left behind by the previous serviceman, and he did not charge us for the previous evening's emergency call (unheard of in this day and age). He is conscientious, friendly, and has a great work ethic. His attention to detail and cleanliness impressed us, and his rates are very reasonable (we have certainly paid more for less service). Although he is a 'one-man band', we actually consider this a positive, as he has always given us first-rate attention. It keeps his overhead low, and he is able to maintain the high standards that he sets for himself.
We've had Steve back to clean our old oil furnace several times for annual cleanings -- each time, with the same professional service that we'd come to appreciate.
We finally replaced our old, less-than-efficient boiler with a new, more efficient one in December of 2011. As always, the experience was outstanding. He laid down sheets across our finished walk-out basement, and managed to keep everything clean, even when hauling out the old boiler. He called to follow-up on the installation -- which was also welcome and appreciated. Of course, we couldn't be happier with our new boiler as well (the only person not happy is the oil man, who comes here less often now!).
Hmmm...writing this review reminds me. It's time to call and quot;The Heating Manand quot; again for our annual furnace cleaning!
