 + -1 moreTheran never opened the bleach; mixed half primer and half top-coat paint and proceeded to spray one coat of this mixture on the house. He sprayed paint onto the window frames & panes, & onto the roof shingles. When I pointed out that the window frames were supposed to be white, he argued with me until I showed him. He then came back and applied a coat of white paint over the color on the window frames. When my husband confronted him about the spots he had missed, which made it obvious there was only one coat of "paint" applied, Theran made the excuse that he had under priced the job and we were getting a $3-5K job (which is not true, considering we were quoted $6k to paint the entire house) for a steal. If he felt he had misquoted the job once he began, he never exercised the option to discuss the matter with us, or to refund our $500 deposit and quit. Because, of the mixing of primer & paint, the paint is washing off the siding & onto the roof.
Description of Work: "Painted" second story of house. Based on the relatively small amount of square footage, and based on prices we had been given for painting the entire house, we initially thought the price he gave us was reasonable & fair. Theran was instructed that we wanted the house washed with bleach to kill mildew, followed by one coat of primer, a base coat of paint, and a top coat of paint containing M-1 mildewcide. We also stated that we wanted the house brushed or rolled, rather than sprayed. He indicated that he understood and was in agreement with the terms of our request; provided us with a "contract" which merely stated "painting of second story, including cheeks and high ends, also dormer etc" (sic) We provided all materials. We painted the first floor ourselves in the prescribed manner; the only reason we hired the upper floor done was, because the roof is steep, and neither my husband nor myself are experienced on tall ladders.
