SOUTH SHORE CHIMNEY

He said he would return the next day to finish the job. Fast forward to May 19 2009, today, we have called repeatedly and have gotten no response. He still has $675 of our hard earned money and hasn't the decency to return our phone call or our check. I am consulting a lawyer for my next step. Beware!!

We were converting from oil to gas heat. Needed to have the chimney lined, South Shore Chimney was recommended by a heating contractor. Set up an appointment to meet for an estimate. South Shore Chimney did not show up or call. A couple of days later they called and said he had an emergency and would be out on the following Monday. They showed up gave us an estimate. Tried to reach them to coordinate a date and time to start the work with the heating contractor. After a number of attempts of their voicemail being full and number not accepting calls. Even the heating contractor that recommended them tried and could not reach them.

HORRIBLE. TOOK MY DEPOSIT, AND NEVER PERFORMED WORK. DID NOT RESPOND TO ME OR ANGIE'S LIST ABOUT THIS.

THEY CAME OUT TO LOOK AT THE JOB ON 8/3/05 AND I GAVE HIM A CHECK FOR $245. HE THEN SAID HE COULD START ON 8/16/05 BUT HE WAS A NO SHOW. I CALLED HIM BACK, HE SAID HE COULD START ON THE 24TH AND THAT HE WAS BUSY DUE TO THE RAIN. HE WAS, AGAIN, A NO CALL, NO SHOW. HE SAID HE COULD COME TOMORROW, STILL NOTHING. HE THEN SAID HE WOULD DROP MY MONEY IN MY MAIL BOX THE NEXT DAY, WHEN NOTHING WAS THERE I CALLED HIM. HE SAID HE RETURNED THE MATERIALS HE HAD PURCHASED FOR THE JOB AND THAT HE WOULD PUT THE CHECK IN THE MAIL. IT HAS BEEN A WEEK IN A HALF AND I HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANYTHING.

JOE WAS TOP KNOTCH. NOT ONLY WAS HE PROMPT, AND KNOWLEDGEABLE BUT WAS ALSO CONCERNED WITH DOING A GOOD JOB. WE HAD SEVERAL ESTIMATES FOR THE THE LINER AND HE CAME IN WELL BELOW OTHER PEOPLE. HE DID AN EXCELLENT JOB. I WOULD STRONGLY RECOMEND HIM FOR ANY CHIMNEY JOB.
