Safety Hardwood Flooring was sub contracted to install hardwood floors in my kitchen through Floor Converings International-Woburn. The experience I had was the worst experience I have ever had with a contractor. The workers were unprofessional, did not install a quality hardwood floor, and did complete the job as we agreed.
One of the first issues we had was a language barrier. Some of the workers could not speak or understand English. This was evident when the workers arrived one day and walked into our house unannounced. They came through a back door and almost had my wife calling the police. The one worker who could communicate did not work, he chose to smoke cigarettes on the back porch. When they began to sand the hardwood, I asked if the would put up drop cloths to contain the dust. They did not. I had to supply them with my own plastic sheets when they failed to do so. Even then, dust went all over our house, covering baby bottles, toys, glasses and dishes. When they did complete the floor, there were many issues with the floor. They originally used one coat of Polyurethane, and said they were done. We had agreed to 3.They also did not complete several transitions from the room as I agreed with Priscilla and Manny of Floor Covering International. One transition had sunken in and was noticeably not level. They chose to nail some floor boards and expose nails in the floor without applying wood puddy as they had communicated. There were clumps of Poly on the floor where they had applied in a hurry. After they finished, the left a pile of trash in my driveway, both items used at our house, and then other things from the van they clean out.
All these issues made it necessary for the workers to come back several days. Once they came back to fix some of the issues but failed to fix all of them, and got upset because they had lost the list of isssues. Then they came back but failed to communicate with the owner of Floor Coverings International, Manny, and ended up getting upset again, and leaving. They never completed the job.
I also witnessed the owner of Safety Flooring argue with the owner of Floor Covering International several times regarding how to perform the work, and what they were responsible for. They were rude, unprofessional and did not do quality work. I would highly reccomend staying away from this company.
