Gus Doherty and his crew at Rhino Roofing and Masonry are A1 service contractors. They completed an exterior remodel of my home in Cambridge, MA (painting, replacing rafters, reframing windows, removing rotten wood, etc) with exceptional professionalism and skill. We also hired them to refinish the basement and are extremely pleased with the results. The crew is exceptionally hard working and Gus had outstanding communication skills throughout the whole process and made sure the project was completed in the time frame he promised. He and his team are very trustworthy, and we believe the value of this investment will serve us well for many years to come. Gus is very knowledgeable, highly experienced, and clearly takes pride in his work.

Rhino Roofing (Gus Doherty & crew) did a lot of work on my North Cambridge house. They repointed the brick foundation as well as the chimney. They did a great job on patching and leveling the basement floor. They also repaired the wood gutters (long-neglected.) This multi-generation family business does excellent work, and they leave the job site clean I recommend the for most any job you have.

One of the worst experiences we've had with a contractor - overpriced, unprofessional, and absolutely no pride in their craftsmanship. We hired Gus & Rhino to repoint the interior foundation of our basement for 15K. We'd had another company do a fantastic job on the exterior, but they weren't available for the inside. I used the outside as the example of what we were trying to match where the masons had dug out the old mortar and then replaced it and cleaned up the stone where needed. Halfway through the first day I came downstairs and saw that Gus' crew had thrown our belongings in the basement into a giant pile in the middle of the room and instead of repointing the stonework they were mixing cement and covering both the old mortar and the granite fieldstone foundation with a stucco coating. It was clear that the goal was to go as fast as possible on the job and collect the money and run. I immediately called Gus to stop the work and figure out how to undo the mess. When we had finally aligned on what 'repointing' meant, his crew then did a terrible job in actually repointing the walls. In some areas the old mortar wasn't removed at all, and it looked like the new mortar was just tossed against the wall in certain places. When the work was finished, they had punctured our main water line, we found out they'd been dumping water with cement into the drain which we had to have cleared out of the waste line, and they broke one of our brand new windows. We found another mason to redo the job. His crew tore out the work Gus did, removed all of the old mortar, repointed the stone, and even sealed the inside with a clear, waterproof sealer. All for 1/3 of the total cost of what Rhino charged. The first two pictures show the work that Gus' crew did. You can see the old, yellowed mortar still in many joints. The last picture is what it looked like once the work had been fixed by the second mason.

Mr Doherty; come out to look at my roof as I did not know how old it was and I was worried about how long It wood last. He gave me a great price for Architectural Shingles. We chose the color that compliments the house, The materials were delivered the same day, the very next day the roof was installed and looks GREAT. I would highly recommend Rhino Roofing if you want a quality job done.
