"Hi [Member Name Removed], I wish you called to cancel your appointment at least 12hrs or 24hr before. It took me 1 hr. going through traffic to come to your house. I did not blame you. Even, When I was informed that the appointment was cancelled. I just said OKAY. You said if I was there just came in. I said no. Since you had decided to cancel, I would not come in. " I don't want to waste your time and my time." Sincerely, you own me an apology. I check my phone record. I never received any message about that cancellation."
"Hi [Member name], Sorry for the inconvenience that I had said "I will not bid for the job" because of the following reason: 1) Parking. I knew you may reserve a spot in the loading dock. However, we have more than 1 truck, with a lots of equipment which will be used for the job. 2) Going out and in the building to carry my equipment is complicate. I was in the building before to see previous customers. I had experience with that building. Therefore, Unfortunately, I had to called in and let you know that "I will not bid for the job. " I did not say like you stated above that " I don't care, I will not take this job." I understand you might upset when I tell you that I Will not fill confident to work in that building/ that area. My office person already had mention that " if there is parking or other issue, Phil will have to make decision." Sorry, I had made my decision, which might make you upset. Pls. accept my apology. Again, I was straight, but not rude."
I expect to have another couple of rounds of floor refinishing to be done over the next year or so and I intend to go right back to Phil.
When the conversation began I'd explained what I needed done The woman informed me that it was likely that the company would need to refinish the entire room, since the new boards may not match. This, in theory, made sense to me. Unfortunately the room where the repair needs to be done is the entire first floor - it's open concept - so refinishing the whole first floor of my house to repair a few boards seemed silly. That does not mean that I didn't understand that it may be my only option, and I certainly didn't fault Phil's Floor Services for making sure I was informed. I in fact appreciate a company who wants to make sure something is done correctly, and that the customer if fully informed of the proper way to do a job.
But from the way the woman explained it, I wasn't positive that there wasn't some way that the small repair could be made without doing the entire room, so to clarify, I asked the woman if she was sure there was no way to repair a few boards without having to refinish the whole floor (I was hoping there was some sort of solution that wasn't so extreme).
I think the woman thought I didn't understand what she was saying, and that I didn't comprehend that to make the floor match well, the entire floor would (or should) to be done. I tried to explain that I did understand, but was attempting to make sure that there wasn't another solution.
At that point she became frustrated with me. It's fine to get frustrated with a customer who doesn't understand. But professionalism is not allowing that frustration to show. If a customer isn't yelling at you, you should NEVER yell at them.
Once I'd gotten her to stop yelling at me. I explained that my "room" would be the entire first floor, and that I needed to know if she was saying that I'd definitely need the whole room done. At this point I was being overly clear, direct, and probably a bit curt. I wanted a clear yes or no answer and I wasn't going to tolerate her yelling at me. I also told her that I was an Angie's list member and would hate to see a company with such a good rating get a very poor rating due to an initial phone consultation. She then said "Well now it seems that you're the one who is yelling. But anyway.." Her response was simply petty and completely unnecessary. Before she could finish I told her to have a good day, and that I'd be posting a review of my interaction with her company on Angie's List.
"There must be a mistake here! We never have any contact or work service to this customer."
"Hi (Removed members name) Thank you for the good review! Sorry, I was too busy to send you the name of the wood filler which you can use to fix your floor. I will send you right away. Phil"
"Hi [Member Name Removed], We wish that we can just do our business as easy as you said: " Prefinished floor just cut it , nail it, and leave." We put quality is the first priority, and attention to detail will be our daily practice. Let me assure you that our price is very reasonable. The followings are the break down for the work will be done for the floor likes yours, if we would do. 1) Demolish the old floor. Remove the old floor will take us a full day with 3 man. After removal, carrying out and place them in the safe place, the dumpster. Dumpster would cost us $ 500.00 or more. 2) Prepare the floor to be ready for the installation. will take time. 3) We don't use cheap material. Hardwood, underlayment, staples, nail will cost money. 4) Equipment, a lot would be involved. Those will cost money. Dust containment, take time and money. 5) Insurance is not cheap. 6) Gas and travel time. Hope the above would explain the cost, and time ...other necessity that might be used for a project. Phil"
