BRIMSTONE MASONRY

Contractor had said that he was doing the work himself, but subcontracted to the tile and carpet laying company! He had stated that he would take down the existing stucco layer to alleviate weight, but then decided that "it was not necessary." Work was interrupted to finish another job, and the crew did not show up when expected. Towards the end of the job, the contractor said he needed another day, but then cut short abruptly and rushed his crew to finish. The result is that the top rim is washed off and shows four different colors. This is because it needed a lathe, but would have required another visit or 2 to do correctly. Some areas have been filled in with mortar instead of stone. Whereas the contractor said that no mortar would be visible there is a lot! Finally, he broke several capping shingles on the roof, without bothering to tell me. I tried to call the contractor, as did a consumer assistance office, but contractor did not respond to many calls and letters.
