Morrison's came out, stripped the old roof in a few hours, and replaced the roof in a few hours. It was hastily and poorly done. There are sections that don't connect to the house, sections that are buckling, and I've never gotten anything but excuses. This was less than a year ago.

Morrison's did a nice job covering our house with new vinyl siding. The job took a while to complete, but the crew took a lot of care fitting the siding around our old New England house. This job was a big investment for us and I was very concerned that it would come out right. I wanted to make sure that the integrity of our two story village colonial home would be maintained and it was. I had a lot of questions about the job as it progressed and Steve the owner of the company always returned my calls and texts promptly.
Overall I would say we are very pleased with results of the job. Many of our neighbors have commented on how improved the house looks now.

We thought the windows were expensive but we are very happy with them. It has been really great and the new windows are a lot better than the ones we have in the rest of the house. They were great when they came out and were her for two or three days. They were very nice and we were happy with the whole experience. The price was more than we had hoped to pay for windows, but now that we have had them in for a while we are very happy with them.

The contract for the job was signed in mid summer, but the job was never put in to be done so I had to call to find out what was going on. At this point we were into fall so the job was started in Oct. The owner, Steve, struck me as kind of a and quot;slick Willyand quot;. The workmen were OK. They showed up on time and did the work. It wasn't until I added an addition a few years later and took out one of the windows that I realized that they had never put any insulation around the window. So after seeing that, I pulled the trim off all the windows and checked for insulation. Some were, some were not. So I had to insulate my windows. I live in Vermont. It's not like I can go without insulation!
Needless to say, I certainly wouldn't use or recommend Morrison Home Improvement.
Response from Morrison's Home Improvement Specialists
"First of all, this job was completed over 15 years ago and she never contacted us when the new addition was being added to inform us that some windows were not insulated. When a customer contacts us with any issues they have, we promptly address it, but in this situation we were not even given the opportunity. Judy stated it was a few years later when she started her addition, over 10 years ago, without her making us aware of it, until she posted it on Angie’s list this year 2014. In regards to scheduling of work, jobs are completed in the order they come in. As per our contract, the dates given as start and completion dates are only projection dates, barring delay caused by circumstances beyond contractor’s control."

Overall we were very pleased with how the project went. We were particularly pleased with the way Morrison scheduled and completed the project within our limited time frame, This was a project on a summer home we have in Pittsfield, and we were only going to be there for 4 weeks this summer. The crew doing the work was very competent, responsible and professional. They showed up every day on time, worked carefully and took pride in their work, happily redoing areas that did not please them, or us. Though Mr. Morrison himself did not do the work, he oversaw the project, stopped by numerous times to check it out, and communicated often with us by phone.
Really our only complaint was that there were some unexpected costs at the end of the work that had not been clearly communicated at the start (i.e rehanging of gutters, which we thought were part of the original contract)
End result was a beautiful house...well done!

They are amazing. The job went perfect. Morrison's was great to deal with. They answered all of my questions thoroughly and clearly about purchasing the windows. They allowed to make a very educated decision. Morrison's was on time for the installation and cleaned up after themselves as well. Morrison's also came out after the installation to check up on the windows.

The ;older windows leaked.;The work crew were diligent, courteous and good workers. ;The master carpenter had to put in a large amount of window framing for the bay window. She did such a beautiful job framing that window that neighbors raved about it, as we did. We had casement windows which meant we couldn't use window a/c so we replaced those with double-hung windows. ;Following the work, our heating bill went down so low our oilman asked us what we were doing since our yearly heating bill had dropped so much. ;He was not happy,.
We have used Morrison's 3 times now for window replacements and to remodel our kitchen. I would recommend them to everyone. The owner checks in every day when work is going on, the workers are very professional and do a beautiful job, they show up when they say they are going to and the owner responds to every question and request. Morrison is probably the best home improvement company here in the Berkshires. I plan on using them again for anything else that we need and recommend them highly

they were very friendly and punctual. Windows were being put in and two were the wrong size. They were reordered and when they came to put them in one was the wrong size. Another day needed to take off from work and another day having my house open to the cold weather. All the windows are in and the back door is in and they are very nice windows and I do notice the difference in them. The installers were very professional, thorough and competent. I would recommend this business to others as they are a professional group and provided me with a quality product.

We had older vinyl windows with broken seals, allowing moisture and mildew to get between the panes, so, we needed to find a contractor who could offer us a quality product and a reasonable price. We signed with Morrison's in March. After a few false starts due to weather and vacations, work was finally completed on May 23, 2013. This did not pose a problem since we were not in a hurry for the work to be done. Once they were here, everything was completed with the utmost care. The windows needed to be properly framed, which had not been done when the original windows were installed by others approximately 20 years earlier. This extra work added another day to the project and was done expeditiously. They were very professional and courteous and we are very happy with the product. We feel that the price was reasonable and the product exceptional. We would definitely recommend Morrison's Home Improvement and would not hesitate to hire them for additional work as needed.

install. The day after Christmas they showed up announced at 8:00 a.m. ! We were still in bed and the tree was still up ! So they had to come back a couple weeks later and install it then. A week or so later I get a phone call from Steve saying that they had installed the wrong side windows and had to reorder them and come back on yet another day to switch them out. And I was to leave the stickers on the windows during all this time ( start to finish almost 3 months) because the building inspector had to come sign off on them. I never heard from them about when he was coming so I called AGAIN and was told never mind. You can take them off. He doesn't need to come after all. Oh, almost forgot. The first time they came to do work they had the wrong building permit with them. They didn't realize it until I asked about the name and address on it. All in all it was a very bad experience and I would never use them for anything ever again even if it was free.
Buyer Beware !!
Response from Morrison's Home Improvement Specialists
"Wow, where to start? First of all, we're glad to hear that this customer thought that we were great when she purchased the windows. That means that she felt the price of the windows and the professionalism of the sales rep were both excellent. And despite her misgivings, what happened during the install were examples of the precision and exacting standards of our field installers rather than incompetence. When we arrived to install her windows it was determined that the existing windows had been installed in a way that did not allow the new window to fit the opening without either extensive shimming or filling with massive amounts of caulk. Neither of these options fit within the standards of our installations, and the decision was made to not use that window. By the way, we are talking about a difference of a half inch - not enough to be noticeable to most laymen - and most companies would have not thought twice about installing it. Rather than being mis-measured, it was our exacting standards that led to the decision not to use the window, and the customer THANKED us for the extra consideration. At our own expense, the window was reordered to fit the newly revealed opening. Unfortunately, these windows are custom made and have a lead time of 3 weeks - a timeline clearly explained to the customer. When the windows arrived, an appointment for the installation was made for December 26, a date selected by the customer and verified with no less than 2 phone messages. Upon our arrival it was explained to our workers that the customer had forgotten, and the Christmas tree was right in front of the window that needed to be replaced. The installers apologized for waking the customer and asked them to call to reschedule the install, which happened a couple of weeks later. Around this time, our internal audit discovered that a small number of our customers were provided with the wrong glass package due to a factory error. Rather than trying to cover this up, or waiting for customers to notice themselves, we immediately reordered every window with the correct glass. We then notified those customers affected and explained what had happened and assured them that they would get exactly what they had paid for. Again, we were THANKED for our honesty and due diligence on their behalf. As for the building permit... One of the installers simply grabbed the wrong one out of the folder they had with them. When the mistake was realized, the proper permit was put in its place. It is worth noting that this customer had not told us of any issue, and had made no complaint, until they were called and asked for the final payment on their account THE DAY BEFORE THIS REVIEW WAS POSTED. Then the owner personally visited the house, and called and left messages 3 times to try and resolve their complaint, with no response from them. As always, we encourage everyone to visit our website, morrisonshomeimprovement.com to read the reviews from hundreds of satisfied customers, or stop by our showroom at 674 North St. in Pittsfield to see the actual letters."

Morrison's was quick in giving an estimate. The work was done a bit latter than originally scheduled. As noted above, the price was high, but the quality of the product and workmanship were excellent. There were complications due to some minor paint damage on the walls after the flooring was installed and a hassle to get that paint taken care of.
Response from Morrison's Home Improvement Specialists
"Customer was to remove existing carpet in bedroom before we were to start the job of installing new flooring, but customer failed to do so. We removed the carpet at no additional charge! We asked the homeowner to advise their personal painter not to paint the trim of the room, until new floor was installed. The painter failed to listen and went ahead and painted the trim anyway. Since the painter did not wait, he said he would address any needed areas after completion of the new floor. When the homeowner called him back for that, the painter said he wanted to paint the room again and charge, $600.00. This was unacceptable to the homeowner. Our installer repainted what was needed in less than an hour and again at no additional charge to the customer! Initially the carpet was supposed to be removed by the homeowners and before any painting of the trim was done. Contract was signed, 12/30/11 and per our contract, work was to begin on our about 1/16/12. Work began exactly on 1/16/12 and was completed 1/23/12. After the completion of the work, homeowners commented that the flooring job was the best they had ever seen! Visit our website and read through all of our customer testimonials!!"

We contracted with Morrison's to do the following work for us: 1) remove a 250 sq. ft. wood deck from the rear of the house and 2) rebuild three small entry porches, including the front porch. The crew took apart the rear deck quickly and cleanly. This included removing several old cement pilings that were buried in the ground. The footings for the new porches were poured efficiently, and the new steps, handrails, etc. for all three porches were cut and constructed according to our exact specifications. As of this writing, there is maybe one day's work remaining. Our only issue with Morrison's was not with the quality of the work or the professionalism of the crew. But initially we never knew one day to the next if and when the crew would show up. I understand if a construction company has multiple projects ongoing. However, we have paid money, too, and at the very least I expect a phone call or email -- some communication -- to let us know when we can expect the crew to be there at our house. Once this was brought to their attention, the company was much better at letting us know their expected schedule. We would definitely use the company again.

The crew from Morrison's removed 2-3 layers of old shingles from both our house and our garage. These shingles had been installed by the previous owners probably 15-20 years ago, and there were some unorthodox methods used to lay and/or attach some of the shingles to the roof. The Morrison's crew then installed a GAF_ELK roofing system to the house and garage. The crew also did some minor carpentry repairs along the roof edge. The quality of the new roofing materials is excellent, and we don't anticipate needing to replace it again in our lifetime. The entire project took less than 3 days. The crew was punctual, professional, and courteous. They left the site clean at the end of each day, and picked up whatever loose debris was left in our yard -- that was part of the contract, but in my experience, not all contractors do this as thoroughly. At first, we weren't satisfied with how some of the new drip edge was installed; another crew from Morrison's came back out within a week and fixed it to our specifications, even though it meant they had to spend time replacing some of the new shingles, as well. Although the estimate for the new roof was higher than other bids we received, the actual cost was slightly below what we originally budgeted. We're very pleased with both the look and the function of our new roof. We've decided to hire Morrision's for a few other projects.

I would not recommend them. They are still not done with the work. We were not impressed by this company at all. They never had the same guys show up at the same time everyday. They never put in the same hours everyday. On top of that, I would have to point out mistakes they made. They trashed the whole home.
Response from Morrison's Home Improvement Specialists
"The members are past customers of ours and we had previously installed roofing on their 1st home. When they came back to us for a second time, they had stated that they were very pleased with the work we had done and that's why they were back. When the roofing project was started we ran into some problems with the pre-existing roofing and flashing. Due to these unforseen conditions, the project was prolonged, taking longer than expected, but there was no repairs needed after the completion of the job and there was no damage done to the customer's house. We have our own, in-house roofing crew, who were on that job daily, bringing back pictures and daily progress reports. The finished product came out just as we told them it would, if not better."

This past winter in the Berkshires was one of the worst we have experienced in quite some time. My old roof was not prepared to handle the extreme amount of snow and ice build-up that accumulated. I was unsure of who to call for snow and ice dam removal but was referred to Morrison's by a friend. Morrison's Home Improvement was a godsend as they had workers at my home that very afternoon. By the time the winter had past, my home was well overdue for a new roof, so I again decided to use Morrison's. Similarly, on the same day I called Morrison's to inquire about a new roof, a man was at my house reviewing that work that was to be done and generating a free estimate. The next day I recieved a phone call to schedule an appointment to discuss my free estimate. I found Morrison's prices to be VERY reasonable considering the quality of the product and the warrenties offered. Once the contract was signed, Morrison's began the work on my new roof, chimney, and gutters. The project went extremely smooth and efficient, and I was so happy with the end result that I decided to use Morrison's for my following home improvement needs. The next month I decided to take advantage of their $1500 window credit, and installed 12 new energy efficient windows into my home. Note: Morrison's garuntees a 49% reduction in energy consumption with the purchase and installation of such windows. As previously mentioned my home is rather old, so to heat it in the winter and cool it in the summer is rather expensive. After comparing costs from the previous year, I was floored to see an overall savings of 50%!!! Steve Morrison is definately a man of his word. This past month, I again hired Morrison's for interior home rennovations. They have completed renovations in my bathroom, which was a head-to-toe remodel. Walls were knocked down, walls were put up, new floors, cabinets, lighting fixtures, and appliances were installed. Currently, my kitchen is being completely designed and remodeled as well... I cannot wait for its completion! Morrison's is definately my contractor of choice in the Berkshires. Not only is Mr. Morrison a man of his word, but he offers quality products and services, and outstanding customer service. All of the companies workers are diligent and efficient, and even so polite that they took their shoes on and off every time they entered my home. A highly reccomended business.

Replacement windows purchased and installed do not operate properly do to vinyl frames warping. After one year problems occurred with some of the windows. They warped to the extent that we could not lock windows. Contacted Morrison's, they replaced 6 sashes. Another year went by more problems surfaced and they replaced more windows. In October or 09 they were once again contacted with more problems with more windows. They sent a tech out and he confirmed issues. Feb 10 I saw him personally and he told me I was on a list . I Called him in May of 010 to see why no one was following thru and he gave me a name of a guy that works for him. A tech was suppose to come to my house and inspect the windows. No show, no call. July of 010 I personally went to the business and expressed my dissatisfaction with him. He said he would have his man call me, that this was a manufacturing problem. No contact , no show to date. We are totally dissatisfied with the quality and workmanship of window. They are not what Morrison's presented them to be. He assured us we would have no problems and we have had nothing but problems.
Response from Morrison's Home Improvement Specialists
"Our company honestly did everything we could for this customer. Our company supplied and installed the Kensington windows of this customer's choice. When problems occurred with the product itself (not the installation), my company was happy to contact the manufacturer and have the windows replaced for this gentleman free of any service charges. When problems arose again in the future pertaining to the manufacture of such windows, we again contacted Kensington manufacturing company. Unfortunately, Kensington had gone out of business. In an attempt to resolve the situation, Mr. Morrison replaced and installed new windows for this customer, financing the entire project out of his own pocket! This customer took our company to court and the judge ruled in our favor, commending Mr. Morrison for going above and beyond in his attempts to reconcile the situation when he was in fact not liable for the faulty product."

So far so good. They passed our rigorous due diligence. When I asked for verification of insurance Steve Morrison said no problem, and provided me with copies of both contractors liability and workers comp. I called on both, and yes, they are valid, and he has good coverage. Two other bids came in a bit cheaper, but neither of them could provide insurance info. In Arizona I once had to pay a $17k medical bill for a contractors uninsured employee when he hurt his ankle on the job - so I would never even consider a company that did not carry insurance. Another thing I like so far, is that Morrison provides a written contract, and has an office/showroom, so I know where to find him if I need him. One of the cheaper bidders wanted us to just shake on it. So far, my emails and phone calls have been returned in lightning speed. I will update as events unfold.....

Jan 11 - Morrison let us know it will now be spring before they can do the work due to weather.

July 2011.
The work was done in the spring as soon as the weather permitted. All of the work was completed within a week - the whole roof, and the chimney rebuild. I liked that the staff cleaned up every day before they left, so it was not like we were living with construction. We have had quite a bit of rain since the work was done, and have not seen any leaks. All of the work was done for the exact price we agreed on, with no extra charges.

We are very pleased and will use Morrison for other home improvements we plan.
