About us

Pierce Building and Repair is family-owned and operated in Phillipston, Ma. I am a licensed and insured building contractor and have been building in Massachusetts for over 26 years. I am focused lately on larger remodeling projects and have been certified in 'aging in place' design. The materials and methods I use are selected based on how I have seen them perform. We, in New England, are economical in how we do things. I believe in long-term solutions and choosing high quality products in order to use money wisely. Our homes are often our biggest investment, and it is important to help them retain their value and be able to stay in them in our golden years if we so choose.

Gary gave me a fair estimate within a couple of weeks and started the job soon afterwards. I was very impressed with the quality of his work and the speed at which he got done (about 5 days). He and his workers were professional, polite, and cleaned up every day. I would not hesitate to recommend Gary for any repair or renovation project.

I emailed Gary when looking.for someone to repair our porch, he responded within a day. We spoke on the phone to arrange a time to get an estimate and he came out in less than a week from my initial contact. Within a couple days he gave me the estimate which was very reasonable, and he said he could complete the work with in a week or two. This was great news as we had spoke to others who either were too busy to take on such a small.project or wanted to over complicate it! The weather in New England is unpredictable, but Gary made sure to get the job started when he knew the weather was right, turned out we didn't need to pour concrete for the post as the existing pier was still there...under the surface, Gary returned two.days later to finish the job.The steps are awesome, and now our porch is supported! It was great working with Gary and will reach out to.him.for future projects!

We had some water damage on the ceiling and wall of our living room from the snow storms going back to last winter.  Gary came highly recommended for the job by a friend who had recently used his services.
Gary was extremely professional and courteous when we met.  He did a thorough inspection of both the interior and exterior of the house.  He got on the roof and was able to pinpoint the root cause (faulty shingle installation when the roof was redone).  Gary provided a fair quote for the interior and exterior work and was willing to perform the repairs when we were ready.
Unfortunately, we were not able to use his services as we had some trouble with our insurance company covering the exterior damages.
I would definitely call on Gary for any future building or repair work, and highly recommend his services!

Gary is friendly and warm and is very responsive to phone, text and email. He came out (on a weekend!) to give me an estimate and it was lower than I was anticipating. He arrived on time and completed the job exactly on budget. He's very likable and it is easy to trust him and his assistant/apprentice and he did nothing to belie that trust. He is creative and made several suggestions for additions/modifications to the fireplace box that I either took or plan to take (such as adding crown molding to the top). He answered all of my questions, both about the job and general questions about other little projects that I'm working on.
Gary's prices seemed very fair and his work looks good. He worked around my often crazy work schedule, coming back 3 times over a month to get the project done (we had to wait on plumbing, gas, and building inspector between phases). He will be the first person that I call for the next building/remodeling project that I need help with.

Gary Pierce was prompt to return my phone call and schedule and appointment. Mr. Pierce arrived on time. He inspected my home including my attic where there are relatively recently installed beams to support my home's open floor design. He concluded that some cracks were due to temperature and moisture fluctuations with the winter season. While the other cracks were due to some settling from a heavy snow load on the roof. He offered some tips and advise on how to repair the cracks. Mr. Peirce also found some insulation issues while he was in my attic. He again offered some tips and advise with regard to the insulation deficiencies. Mr. Pierce was professional and easy to talk with. I could tell that Mr. Pierce is a higher caliber contractor. Mr. Pierce went above and beyond. A couple days after our appointment he called me back just to inform me that he consulted construction plans and again insured me that the beams I had in my attic were adequate if not exceeding load requirements. As a result of Mr. Pierce's knowledge, professionalism, easy-goingness and dedication to go above and beyond his work is why I will be contacting him for any future work that I may need around my home.
