This went terribly wrong. The contractor left 2 inexperienced people on job site. first off even though they charged me for a permit one was never obtained. They took out porch joists that were perfectly fine and charged me to replace them. When laying done the porch floor they started in the back so in the front are sloppy cut boards pieced together instead of starting front and working back. The finish in front has multiple small cuts put together. The beams supporting the roof were simply nailed together without support posts under them to take weight of roof. They actually cut the cross beams to short and tried to cover it up. The finish trim around posts were cut so badly they did not miter together and were filled in with wide sections of caulking. The building inspector I finally got a hold of pointed out all the things wrong stated he could not sign off on the work, Stated the work was badly done and needed to be redone. Well peter stated it did not so what he did instead was move the porch posts back cutting down size of porch room so the beams he cut wrong could sit on posts. It is still visible were the other beams sat. The porch is a mess and we are waiting to have it done again correctly. The hardwood floor he installed was instead of maple like the rest of the wood turned out to be pine. The builder used cut nails which have never looked right. The nails stick out all over the floor. The floor does not meet with the baseboard. His excuse for not taking the base board up was the wall might fall. There are numerous large gaps in were the floor meets baseboard. Then molding was cut to go around the floor at baseboard. That also does not match up and the gaps are still present. In his haste to remove the old floor he destroyed 100 year old wide plank maple door jam covering and then replaced it with a cheap piece of already stained oak that did not match the floors. After putting down the floor they stained the floor over dirt and debris. As a result of the stain the floor looks dirty all the time.This contractor left me with a terrible mess that is now going to be replaced. Every other contractor who comes in to my house says "Ohh" when they see this mess. My inexperience in dealing with contractors led me down the path of this contractor. A valuable lesson has been learned on my part but it cost a lot of money and sadly I have had to look at this mess for 7 years until I could afford to have it done again,this time correctly. I caution people who are considering using this contractor for any project.
