Landscaping
was not watering enough and Beware of this landscaper.
He has shown up in my area under various names over the last few years. I first contacted Edward Rorke in August 2009. I contracted with him October 2009 to have my front and back yards re-graded due to a problem with drainage, a problem with buried tree stumps, and to have the pavement on my driveway removed so that it could be widened and re-installed .
I thought that this contractor would be a good choice since his business was located only a few houses away from my home. At first I thought I had made a good choice but during the renovations I started noticing that things were not being done exactly as we discussed. Because the estimate is not specific enough, we had disagreements. He removed several trees that were not indicated by me, I believe this was to sell later as firewood. We also started having small problems that he claimed to a fixed, but I later found were not done. He began to not show up when expected and I would not see him for a week.
A major part of the contract was to regrade and reseed my front and back yards which I had difficulty growing grass on due to drainage problems. I kept contacting him because I wanted the work done before winter set in.
I did not set up a schedule of payments when I made the contract and he was always asking for more payments even though the work was not completed. When the job was finally completed I hesitated to give final payment but he convinced me that since it was late in the season that would be back to spring to touch up any areas that were not satisfactory
About a month later I started to have run off rain and I contacted him and was told he would fix it in the spring because nothing would grow at this time of year. Soon after that that the sign was worked out of and when I went down to his office I was told that no longer in business there because of financial disputes with the owner. I contacted him again and was told is told that he just moved to a less expensive location and would still be out spring
When spring came I contacted him eight times each time he assured me he would be there to make the corrections. Then he started blamimg me for the problems saying I was not watering enough and should have installed irrigation.
I needless to say I have not seen him since. I found that in Massachusetts the only way to take someone to small claims court is to send them a registered letter. Since he did not have a mailing address I found it difficult to take him to court.
I had other landscapers come and give me estimates on what it would cost to be repair the damage. Most said the them said that the grading was done wrong and that the soil that he put in place was too sandy. I would need to have new loam placed over the entire area and regraded to give the grass something to grow in.
Since then I have found several other things that he damaged, like my shed and wiring to my outside lights. And he the only put soil on top and a sinkhole, so it has remained.
I do not know what name is under at this time however if you come across him him for a landscaper do not hire him.
