"Hi [Member Name Removed], I'm glad you had a great experience but this wasn't with us! I think you meant to post this under Bay State ReFinishing. We're definitely not the same people and only do full replacements :-)"
On install day, the Plumber and installer arrived on time, about 9:00-9:15. the plumber explained what he needed to do (namely installed a new drain as the old drain would not fit) which necessitates cutting of the ceiling in the basement. He was very neat and careful and only took out when he needed to get the work done. I do need to path a hole around the new drained but it is a small one. The installer was very precise and methodical and worked his tail off. He was here easily for 12 hours and even worked with me to figure out the best placement for the safety bars and the shelves. When it was all done, he cleaned up and we settled up.
The work was very well done, There was one other issue. Some of the tiles lifted when the old tub was removed, but he saved them all and I was able to replace them. Couldn't be helped as there was some old cement and grout, but he was careful not to lose anything I might need. I did replace them and I will be sealing them as soon as the grout cures.
Be aware that it is a disruptive process. They needed my driveway and the hallway to the bathroom, but they are careful and as they say, it is only for one day. So for a day of inconvenience, you get a new tub and shower. All in all that is not bad. If you have just one bathroom, make plans, but otherwise they do work to make the inconvenience as minimal as possible.
They aren't just for old people anymore!
I would gladly do it again. The new shower is very nice and the tub really is a big improvement, especially since it has a texture and makes for a very sure footing.
One thing, I highly suggest that anyone doing this to get safety bars if at all possible. Even if you are young and able bodied, anyone can slip and these bars make it easier to either prevent a fall or help you in the case you do lose your footing
"[member name removed] I think you might have us confused with someone else. We've never offered re glazing or anything near as low as $1000 :)"
"Glad we could be of help! I'm sorry for the few hiccups in the middle of the job but we're always around to work through any challenges."
Re-Bath promised a two-day installation time. This turned out to be seven days, but only due to the Malden building inspector's inflexibility and "inability" to return to reinspect before the 4th of July holiday.
This review would award 5 stars across the board for this experience; the only complaint I might offer is inconsistency between the sales presentation and final product. During the sales presentation, we were given the impression that all old tile would be removed. In reality, only a limited amount of tile was removed from just above the old bathtub and to perform minor repair to the drywall (actually replaced it with plywood). The sales presentation even included a video which showed a representative installation which included removal of all tile and installation of new drywall.
"Hi, Glad everything came out great in the end! We've been working hard to train our designers and will continue to do so :)"
"Hi [member name removed], Hope everything is still fantastic with the shower! Anytime we do a custom shower like yours the shower needs to get demoed before we can produce a true stud to stud measurement - Which leaves the shower unusable for about 2 months while we wait for the base to be produced. It's a long time but its perfectly normal for that style shower"
"Remodeling bathrooms in older homes sometimes requires additional structural repairs in order to eliminate any noises that may arise when a cast iron tub is removed and the structure is disturbed during the demolition phase. We offered this customer the option of having the floor joists REPLACED in order eliminate a small squeak that was observed after the tub was secured and plumbed in. The customer declined that added work, which would have involved a building permit and additional fees. 112F is the code limit for the temp on a tub/shower valve and that is the temp that was reached by our licensed plumber when the job was complete. This client has a “tankless” hot water system, which often has wide fluctuations in temperature until the system is run for a few minutes. When the plumbing inspector checked the temp it had those fluctuations, and he recommended the customer make updates to the valve on that system to eliminate those fluctuations. Neither the customer nor the inspector ever notified Re-Bath that the inspector had made that recommendation. If we had been made aware we would have gladly performed the service, for an additional fee. Re-Bath performs bath remodeling services and while we are operating with our own staff of licensed plumbers, we do not routinely change heating system components, unless there is a change order generated to perform that work. I did tell the customer I was sorry to hear that her heating system required additional work and the related expenses. Jennifer Bylo President Bay State Re-Bath"
The second work we had done was in July. We had our tiles replaced and wainscoting done as well as our medicine cabinet and the light fixture over the medicine cabinet. When the salesman came my husband told him he would add an electrical outlet in the bathroom, that is the only conversation we had about electrical work.
When the installer Jeff (who was wonderful) came he was pleasant and polite and did a great job. The day before the medicine cabinet went up a gentleman who was at our home told my husband the electrician would be at the property to install the light fixture over the medicine cabinet at 8:00 am the following day. Early the following morning a Dennis called and stated that we had to pay to have the electrical work done because it was not a part of our contract. I pointed out that was not discussed. The salesman discussed with us that they would replace anything they took down and that he would make a note that we would be purchasing a new and smaller medicine cabinet and light fixture at his suggestion(Husband not happy with the smaller cabinet).
Jeff the installer showed me that he had paperwork where the salesman wrote that he told us they would not do any electrical work. After much discussion a Jennifer told me that she would send a Dennis over and that she would eat the cost of the electrical work. This entire incident made them seem dishonest. One day someone told my husband that the electrician will be at the house at 8:00 am and they called at 8:00 am to say its not a part of our contract???
Dennis came by later on and my son opened the door for him. My son greeted Dennis who responded, but he marched right by my husband and I sitting on the couch and completely ignored us. My husband then greeted him. We could feel the anger emanating from him. We where uncomfortable with him in our home. I sent an email to the company while he was at our home about his rudeness and I was not really a people person(Maybe he is in the wrong job) Once the work was completed and Jeff was ready to collect the balance of the payment, somehow he did not have a record that we had made a deposit of $1700. We also checked our cute little folder with our copies of the paperwork from the salesman which was all NCR paper. We DID NOT have a copy of that hand written note that stated that Re-Bath would not do any electrical work. We still have to check that we where not billed twice for the deposit. I sent the company an email about the paperwork that was not a part of our file that we did not have a copy of, and they have not responded. Once again it made them seem dishonest.
We had an issue with the medicine cabinet and the lights not been level and we called the office and Dennis came back still not a pleasant man. They came back two weeks later after I sent an email to remind them about the issue and by then my husband made the correction. We also had an issue with a hole in the grout and a few other grout issues. We where not notified, they just showed up at the door before 8:30 am on Friday. My sister had an appointment with them to come and replace her shower head that lasted less than two months and after repeated requests by my husband and an email that I sent(They made an appointment and canceled it the week before)
My sister's appointment was between 12:00 - 2:00 pm on Friday the ninth of August. They asked if they could come at 11:00 am and she told them that she would like to be there and that she will be heading home after working an over night shift, so that was not possible. At about 8:20 am my husband came home from work and saw Jeff outside waiting because we did not have an appointment. I had to get ready for work and did not plan to have my bathroom worked on today. I was not aware of appointment for 12 noon for my sister. Once again the company was sneaky and dishonest by showing up without making an appointment for my unit and by having the installer telling me he had to go over and replace her shower head almost four hours before her appointment, knowing that she said she would not be home. If I had known, I would not have violated her privacy by letting a representative from the company into her unit. Also not only did she want them to replace the broken shower head she wanted to point out a hole in the tile work.
When my sister arrived home and found out what happened, she called the company and expressed her dissatisfaction at having her privacy violated, Sue started to laugh at her no doubt feeling victorious that they pulled one over on her by showing up four hours early and getting an appointment that was declined. That sneakiness necessitates them having to return to assess/repair the tile work.
Notwithstanding the outcome the process was flawed. This is why, having had the experience, i would look elsewhere before making a final decision and i would have placed performace criteria on the agreement.
We gave a $2600 deposit on February 1 - by the end of Mrch i called to complain about the delay. They were finally scheduled for the first week of April. The failure of Re-Bath to keep intouch with us shows a lack of respect for the customer (or poor business practice).
Even though the final job was terrific - we didn't appreciate the lack of support
Second - and most important - one of their techs was constantly trying to up sell us to additional services. Jon told my wife that we should get rid of our (relatively new) sliding glass dors. When she told him that the sales guy told us that it would be no problem, Jon told her "sales guys lie to get the sale." I confronted Jon and told him if he could get the slidings door frame back on then Re-Bath will have to pay for it. He said "i only said that it might be a problem."
A day later he offered to sell me a new bathtub (ours was 4 years old) at a discount. I asked what was wrong with teh tub and he said "nothing but i'm offering you a deal." I told him to shut up and do his job and that i didn't want to hear anymore deals. He did a very good job. I'm sure that Jon does thids on an ongoing basis -maybe he gets a spiff for it.
I sent a copy of this review to the Re-Bath coordinator, along with my comments about Jon. That was 3 days ago. I have not heard back from her - so i assume that i'm in a long line of folks that have compalined.
Finally - Re-Bath did a very professional job on th bathroom. However the lack of accountability of the company vis a vis
us and i frankly get ticked off by techs who try to up sell customers. It is UNPROFESSIONAL
YOU make the choice. For me I'm sure that there are other providers that can deliver a quality job

Exploring in detail multiple options, including removal and replacement of the tiled walls and tub,
we opted to go with ReBath, specifically because of the quality of their product.
Even though we changed our minds with the color that we chose after replacing the tile floor,
ReBath of Massachusetts worked with us, and were very patient and helpful in assisting us with our final choice.
The installation went flawlessly, and the installer took great pains to make everything absolutely perfect.
I would heartily recommend this fine company.
An installer and two plumbers arrived early on September 4 to start the project. After about an hour, water started running through the kitchen ceiling below the bathroom. It turned out that one of the plumbers carelessly did not completely close a shut off valve before cutting water pipes under the vanity. Plaster came down and there were several large water stains on the ceiling. Someone from the office assured us they would send someone to repair the damage. The installer said someone else would have to come at a later date to install the exhaust fan as he couldn't do it. This turned out to be a good thing as it provided the chance to closely inspect the new exhaust fan which turned out to be a less expensive model than the one for which we paid. - more bad paperwork?
It was several more weeks before they sent people to install the correct exhaust fan and repair the ceiling. The ceiling was patched and paint touched up but looked so bad, the entire ceiling had to be painted again - this took numerous phone calls and more weeks.
There were several problems with shower enclosure parts missing and incorrect parts causing further delays.
