The Chimney Guys

The craftsmanship is poor. Broken/cracked bricks, uneven mortar, style and coloring do not match existing chimney. We accepted it because there was not much we could do. Two months after the repairs, the firebox was crumbling apart and is actually worse now than before the repair. I called and set up an appointment for him to come and repair his work and he agreed and remembered doing the work. Fast forward to the day of the appointment. No one shows up, I call and he says that he has no record of the appointment and after I explain what needed to be done, he claims he doesn’t remember doing any work on our house. No record exists in his computer, but I have a proposal and invoice from him for the work, which doesn’t seem to matter. He said he would call back, but he didn’t. He won’t pick up or return my calls. At this point, I would rather do the repair myself than trust this guy. Oh, and after the "chimney sweep" I cleaned out the "clean out" and I found 100s of pounds of ash, bricks, and mortar. See Pictures. I suspect he just dumped his trash down the ash door at the bottom of the fireplace instead of disposing of it.
