Landscaping

The owner, Joseph Talbot and his girlfriend/office manager Sandra Aliberti claimed that these were all projects that they had done many times before. Joseph promises things like "your house will never leak again." He showed some impressive photographs of similar projects. We should have known it was not going well when the plants that he had replanted in another area were left to die. In addition, the sprinkler system which worked fine on city water no longer works on either system. The rainwater tank was placed a few feet below ground level which meant that water would not run towards the tank. We were pleased with the result of the patio and the gutters, but these were a relatively small part of our investment. He put all the hot tub jets in incorrectly so that they are not flush with the surface of the tub. As a result, no one could lean against the jets because they will push awkardly into someone's back. The hot tub "box" which has all the pumps and equipment does not have a working cover. The hot tub doesn't have a cover. Joe promised at least 20 times that the project would be finished within the "next week" and he never completed it. We later learned that he has filed for bankruptcy 4 times and owes over $24,000 in back taxes and suspect that he used our money to address his preexisting financial liabilities.

Joe is a great salesman and overstates his ability and experience. He showed photos of a similiar project which looked beautiful, but then was unable to complete our project. It ended up costing double what he quoted and he was still unable to finish. He abandoned our project when he had a concrete shell of a hot tub only and we didn't have a functional sprinkler system. The parts that he finished likely could account for approximately 1/4th of what he paid. In addition, his employees actually stole our gardening and landscaping supplies from the house. He lied repeatedly about what he was able to accomplish. When parts of the project could not be completed, he blamed us for making poor decisions about placement and design when we had yielded to his recommendations. He installed a rock wall which is already falling down after about a month. He changed key aspects of the design without discussing them with us. He kept stringing us along by saying he had one part that was on order or had to tweak some small thing. He did a good job with a project up the street and then arranged to have several other projects on our streets as a result. No one else in the neighborhood was satisfied with their experience. There were 3 family emergencies during the course of 3 months which he claimed prevented him from completing the project.
