We hired this company. I don't mind paying but when they missed so many areas. It's very frustrating and I have to finish the job myself. Anthony promised a great job and so didn't Nicole. I sure didn't even get a good job. The hand railings are super rough, and where the pressure washer chewed up the wood it was never fixed. It was definitely a hack job. I was promised over the phone a walk through at the end. It never happened. Couldn't communicate with the workers. I couldn't understand them. Definitely the pictures that they posted on other jobs don't match what I paid for. A very disappointing experience with this company. I would shop around.. plus I included Anthony in the last few emails and he couldn't even respond back. Awful !!! The handrails was addressed in after the power washing. The owner needs to go back and see the truth. I have the email saved!!!! Give me your email and I would be gladly to send it you!! You shouldn't be sparky when your team hacked my deck. I will be re-doing myself. Such a joke of a company.

The end result is excellent However I did have to have them come back to clean up some messy areas with paint on the wood. They are very courteous about it and nice but it did take two tries. And we are not picky people They didn't charge the final charge until I confirmed I was satisfied. They clearly cared. The final product looks great.

The deck looked like new. The project manager explained the process in great detail on the phone and through several emails. Communication was very prompt and the crew came on time and worked efficiently. Samples of the wood stains we could choose from arrived as promised in the mail. The process should last at least two years.

A main architectural feature of our home is our deck, spanning the entire long side of our embankment ranch.  Its surface area is more than the total area of our first house.  Sadly, after lots of job problems, it had not gotten the care it needed.  As things took an upswing this Summer (2015) we started looking to fix it.  We initially priced the work with several contractors and found that it was still unaffordable.  When I had contractors break out the carpentry part of their estimates,  I saw it was very high.  Seal-a-Deck's finishing price, however, was within range.  Doing the carpentry myself (it must have been 50 boards) made this affordable, even with that much lumber.  Seal-a-deck waited a few times while we kept calculating our finances and timing with no complaint.
When we finally lit the green light, they were all over it.  They gave me exact dates with allowances for bad weather, and kept us well informed.  Workers showed up as scheduled and in the end the deck looks terrific.  I am not worried about having another horrible winter any more!
It helped a lot that we could do much of the work via email, although I had no trouble contacting them by phone a few times when needed.  They promised that we wouldn't really need to be at home, and they were right.
We're very pleased with this job and unconditionally endorse Nicole Greene and everyone at Seal-a-deck.

I submitted an on-line quote to have our newly installed deck stained and sealed. No response. It took several emails to even have them acknowledge the receipt of the quote. Once acknowledged it took many, many emails to get the owner to call me to discuss and take it to the next step. Just when I was about to give up, I received a call. Michael informed me that my on-line quote was accurate ($699), however because the deck was on the 2nd floor it would cost an additional $250 to rent scaffolding. I accepted ($949). The job was completed as agreed however no scaffolding was used. Just out of curiosity, I questioned Nicole the project manager and she informed me that they don't charge for scaffolding if required so she would have to speak to the owner. Two months go by and I get many apologetic emails from Nicole but nothing from owner. Finally after two months I receive a voice mail from Michael and he says that he misspoke originally in that they don't rent scaffolding but charge the extra $250 if their employees need to use a ladder. At this point I laughed and gave up. I knew there was no amicable resolution. My original hope to set up an annual maintenance contract was scratched. Bottom line, my job was not worth their time so they needed to sweeten the deal. Shame on them.

My wood condo deck was a couple years late for maintenance; I contracted with the company to get it back to good condition.  The assigned workman was punctual and professional, did conscientious work, and was friendly to boot.  When the job was completed, the deck looked 100% improved.  I was very satisfied with the work.

Emailed with project coordinator Nicole.  Sent photos of deck (received $100 discount for sending photos) and then spoke with the owner Michael.  Received written proposals via email.
Paid 50% deposit for work to begin weather permitting.  Once work began the job was completed in a timely manner.

Overall it was good experience and I would use the provider again.

My only compliant is being able to reach someone at the company in a timely manner.  When you call the company someone from their office/answering service always has to pass the message along to the owner (Michael).  I couldn't seem to ever call and just speak with him.  When I would speak with Michael my experience was very positive but connecting with him was a challenge at times.

It took a bit of time to get a quote, but once the work started (on a Tuesday) the project was completed by that Thursday. The guys that came and did the work were great - very efficient, knew what they needed and wasted no time in getting the project done. After the quote was given the office was not great about answering emails, calls would be routed around.
Because I wasn't home when the workmen were getting updates was tricky. BUT the deck looks great, the fact that they tightened up the nails, etc, is great. And I will probably use them again - especially as they estimate that this should last 4 years (warranty is for 1).

I've used this provider before and was very pleased with how the deck had turned out two years ago (2012) when I contracted with him.  Apparently the contractor contacted me via an older landline number while I was trying to contact him via email about following up on my concerns.

Thanks to Angie's List, we were able to get in touch with each other after two months of missing each other.  I very much appreciate Michael following up on my concerns and taking care of completing the work.  He was very responsive when I mentioned that I needed the deck work completed before Monday and sent the tech over today and also recommended not using the Sikkens stain that I had initially requested because of the company changing the formula and instead used another stain he recommended.

I arrived home and the deck looks great, just like I had expected because of the work that was done 2 years ago. I have modified my review because of the follow up service Michael provided.  I definitely would use this service again for my deck.

After a very positive experience with Michael Kaloutas on re-staining the exterior of my two story home, I contracted with Seal-a-Deck to re-stain a glossy screened porch area without seeking other estimates. I highly value that Michael has always been very responsive and professional, responding to phone calls almost immediately and doing whatever is necessary to leave behind a very satisfied customer. He was very helpful in all aspects of the project and Reggie, who actually did the work, is meticulous in his efforts to do the best job possible and leave a clean job site behind. I would highly recommend Michael and Seal-a-Deck and plan to keep them on my call list for future projects.

Entire deck was washed, then the horizontal surfaces were sanded and sealed.  I didn't understand that the washing would take off some of the finish on the rails... it looked a little funny because it didn't match the floors.  Talked to Michael and he agreed to have someone come over and do some touch-up for free, or get a discount on restoring the railings too.  We went for the entire restoration and now it looks great!

Work was prompt and professional.   Very happy at time of installation.
As the pre-work conversations were conducted over the phone, I am agreed to the color of the stain verbally and without seeing the color. Shame on me as I was not happy with the color of stain I selected.  Can't blame the contractor for my selection (this shortcoming is NOT noted in the scoring).   It would have been nice to have access to color samples or online catalog.

This is our second time using them, and the gentleman who did the work this time was outstanding.   (Not sure of his name but he was soon leaving Seal-a-deck to move back to his native country).  He showed up on time, was courteous and friendly, and his attention to detail was great.  The decks have never looked better.
The only negative thing I can say is that the service coordinator - Michael - was not great at returning my wife's phone calls.  Other than that, I was very  happy with the service and would use them again.

Vendor was good to work with. On site staff was neat, punctual and professional. Deck work was done at a high quality with good cleanup at the end.
Management was good with the communication to arrange the appointment and explain the service. A couple of times it was a little slow to get a response, but there was always follow up.
Price was a teensy bit higher than I would have liked. Needed the service and they did deliver so I got my moneys worth.
Will use again.
