DO NOT HIRE THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I rarely ever post a review and if I do, it's usually for excellent service. Not in this case. I called Charland Appliance Center because my refrigerator was getting warm quickly but my freezer was working just fine. 2 men came to my house. The older man (60's) opened my freezer, then literally peaked at the computer board for no longer then 3 seconds. He never even touched it. He then told me the computer board was "fried" and needed to be replaced and this would cost me $600. I trusted these men to NOT lie to my face. He asked for a $300 deposit (this was on Friday 7/24) I gave him a check. After the 2 men left... what was told to me just didn't sit right. After all, my freezer was working fine. Thank god for a family friend who knows about appliance repair. I told him what had transpired. He came right to my house and took a look at the refrigerator. The computer board was fully functional!!!! The circulating fan was broken and this was the issue. A $50 fan fixed my refrigerator. So, what was going to happen when they installed the new computer board and the refrigerator still would't work??? This is a crooked scheme to rob people of their money. When my husband called Charland to question them on their business practice, they had nothing to say. Literally, he was tripping over his words. I understand this is difficult times for a lot of small businesses. But this is NOT how you earn a pay check. I hope they can turn it around. Charland has been in business for a long time. It would be a shame if they had to close because they are crooks!
