California Closets

The installation itself was great - the fellow was punctual, thorough and personable. Very pleased with that end of things. The shelving and rods look great and are adjustable to flex with us as our needs change. Working with the design consultant was somewhat frustrating. Throughout the entire process she commented multiple times about how busy they were, which I think contributed to the inconsistent service. We had confirmed a date and time for her to come to the house to talk about what we wanted and measure the spaces; this date and time were in email and were confirmed by both parties. However she arrived at the house 90 minutes early, before I was there, and at no point did the acknowledge that perhaps she had made an error in her calendar. Within a couple days of visiting the showroom to confirm the design option, we were given the opportunity to have the installation done quickly thanks to some cancellations. This was welcome news as we were anxious to get things into the closets; we had recently moved in had boxes everywhere. Unfortunately as I was signing off on the design a couple days after our showroom visit, I realized there was an error in the measurements which was in part my fault; there were boxes in the closet that hid a "bump in" in the wall. Consultant told me she would have to return to my house to correct measurements or else she would be "dinged" if adjustments had to be made on site. Because of this I couldn't take advantage of the early install date, and we now had 3 weeks before the install date. Consultant did not return to my house to correct measurements until 5 days prior to install appointment, the minimum period of time required by CA Closets so they can cut shelving, supports, etc. When she returned she said she would get me the revised drawings later that evening, and would also get them over to the fabricators/installers. I followed up with her the next day when I'd not yet received them, and was assured that I would get them and that everything was okay. Two days prior to the installation I sent an email to her asking her to confirm the final balance and asking her to clarify payment method. I never heard back from her, so on the day of the install I texted her and did get a response. As it turned out the corrected drawings were never sent to the fabricators/installers so there were some modifications that had to be made on-site. Consultant called to inquire how installation had gone, and I commented on the lack of corrected drawings and noted that since they obviously weren't critical, I would have appreciated being able to go forward with the earlier install date since having the spaces available to us would have been very helpful. To date I've never heard back from her.
