Joe Mita only came to our house to do the measuring and quoting. He did not come to perform, monitor or even inspect the job throughout the entire renovation project. We would have thought that Joe, being the owner of the company, and being the appointed contractor by Home Depot, would show some accountability by following through the project or at the very least do the final inspection but no, he only sent his team over to remove the old kitchen and install the new cabinets.
Joe Mita sent one of his guys Dan to remove our old kitchen. Dan ripped the drain hose that was connected to the back of the dishwasher when he was removing one of the old cabinets. My husband saw it happened and pointed it out to Dan that he had torn the dishwasher drain hose. Without an apology or offering to find his professional plumber to repair the hose, he replied "your plumber can fix it for you." My husband and I understand accidents do happen however the lack of action and accountability by Mita's team did catch us by surprise.
We did hire a licensed plumber to repair the drain hose, that was torn by Dan, at our expense. After the kitchen renovation project, we began to use the dishwasher and noticed water leaks coming out from the dishwasher, went underneath the hardwood floor, and leaked to the basement causing major damages to the hardwood floor as well as the insulation and property damages in the basement.
We contacted Home Depot immediately expecting them to honor customer satisfaction, as they publicly broadcasted. Home Depot made us hire a LG technician to understand the cause of leaking, again, at our expense. The LG technician diagnosed that the leaking was caused by a torn on the drain hose that was located inside the dishwasher. Come to find out Dan not only torn the hose that was outside the dishwasher, but also the inside.
We dealt with Home Depot for months. Home Depot and Joe Mita did not do anything but finger pointing. They did not take any responsibility of the damages and show no accountability by refusing the repairs of the hardwood floor, dishwasher and basement damages.
We ended up filing our home insurance claim. It has been 6+ months and our insurance company did not receive any reply from Home Depot or Mita Woodworking. Our insurance company is now taking legal action.
I will not recommend Home Depot and/or Mita Woodworking to anyone. The lack of professionalism and accountability is beyond unacceptable.
After the cabinets were delivered by Home Depot, one of Joe's contractors did the cabinetry inspection in early August. In our case there was 1 damaged cabinet, due to issues with shipping the replacement cabinet the work was delayed about a month and a half, due to the Home Depot policy where the contract work cannot start until all cabinetry pieces were delivered. I kept in touch with Joe during this time, so he was aware of the cabinetry delivery schedule, they had to finish on earlier projects.
Once the installation was started in mid-September things went pretty well, Joe, coordinated the team where the sub floor work and electrical work didn't overlap. The actual cabinetry installation and door and window replacement took about 2.5 weeks. Once the cabinetry was in we were then able to get the counter tops templated and installed and the flooring. After the counter tops were installed, Joe and his contractor came back for a day to finish up the trim work, and coordinated the work with the plumber.
